The balance of power is shifting as SpaceX is developing a cost effective way of building infrastructure in space. Russia probably is well aware of this and is re-aligning itself with a competing power.
> Antisemitism is such a tired strawman. Am I accused of sinophobia if I critique the CCP? Of course not. But critique of Israel is so often interpreted as 'antisemetic'.
In one you criticizing a ruling party, in the other you are criticizing the only majority Jewish country in the world.
Your statement itself isn't anti-Semitic but highly ignorant of the key differences. I don't intend to change your views nor biases but I hope you are able to reflect on what you wrote.
Upstate New York is wealthy in water (a lot of it went unused). NYC is wealthy in economic activity that is taxed at a high rate to provide the State with resources. Are those resources allocated in a manner that is fair and equitable? I don't know.
This paper was surprisingly easy to read and understand.
I don't understand why Google is losing so much money on their cloud services.
$573M will be minimally felt at the organization level.
It is less than 5% of global revenues.
I'm all for it but I feel like I'm missing how will they come up with the money to pay for this?
I think he is completely right. Journalism today looks more like advocacy.
Free-speech liberalism are at odds with the political establishment. The liberal camp has been decimated recently with the rise of both the authoritarian right/left.
From my perspective, what is happening in the US right now is somewhat similar to what happened in the Latin American countries in the 60s and 70s.
I'm very happy I discovered https://www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news
It gives me access to articles written about the same subject from both perspectives. What I think it super interesting is how journalists omit certain facts to further their point of view.
Having them on the app platforms isn't good for business. Advertisers have threatened to boycott Apple and Google if they don't remove them.
International Red Machines - Sounds like the USSR
I would argue that these new regulations are in a way a breach of the Fourth Amendment, which is supposed to protect people from unreasonable searches.
This seems like a search to me...
How will the logistics work? Who gets access to this vaccine first?
I'm curious who his biggest customers will be?
Government's argument rests on the fact that Visa shouldn't acquire Plaid because of the potential technology they might create. This is a really dangerous argument.
This is a direct quote from the plaintiff's argument:
"While Plaid’s existing technology does not compete directly with Visa today, Plaid is planning to leverage that technology, combined with its existing relationships with banks and consumers, to facilitate transactions between consumers and merchants in competition with Visa. Like Visa’s online debit services, Plaid’s new debit service would enable consumers to pay for goods and services online with money debited from their bank accounts."
I'm not a lawyer nor an expert in payments but this seems like a stretch to me.
I would be cool if you could analyze this from the peak of the bubble in 2000 to the bottom of the 2008-2009 financial crisis...
...to promote economic growth and upward mobility...
I've always thought that upward mobility is what gives hope and hope is the fuel of persistence. Persistence coupled with patience and passion makes it possible to grow economically.
Why tax buybacks? Just tax the individual benefiting from that buyback at the appropriate rate.
Taxing buybacks essentially means that you are taxing poor shareholders and rich shareholders the same.
I'm not sympathetic. You're talking about a regime that essentially enslaves people. History will not be on his side.
I think Argentina has a an asset tax on anything above USD $300,000 at 0.75% but they also have basis adjustments for inflation which I think is fair. The basis of all your assets increases as a result of inflation.

at 5am, there is literally no traffic on the streets of Manhattan. There is a way to utilize the resources of the roads when there is no traffic.
I don't purchase baby food by Amazon. You can't trust the resellers. I don't understand how there aren't regulations on policing your marketplace for unlawful products, especially those covered by strict liability.
That's really sad. I've always imagined myself dying in my 80s or 90s after seeing grandchildren become adults. At the age of 62, that cuts all of that out...
