The same "click a link and you're in" as a video call, except what everyone joins is a real running shell.
Send a link, they're in. Guests open it in Chrome or Safari and get a full terminal to pair-program with the host.
Tap the right ⌘ key and describe what you want. Uses STT transcribes as you speak, and the phrase comes back as a shell command sitting on your prompt — for you to read and run, or not.
[i personally built this because I was pairing up with non-eng folks and in a remote world, it was extremely painful to get the right cmds over. if i had direct access to their terminal, i'd be able to solve it within seconds vs. hours of back/forth] Looking forward to feedback and hopefully this is a useful tool for folks!
My new flow has become if I'm developing iOS apps:
1. I log into Argly from my phone, it connects/ screen-shares my desktop and I can control all the apps or send keyboard strokes
2. I'll have cursor open, feed it a prompt, wait for the changes to be applied
3. Then it deploys to my phone through wifi from across the house. This works decently
I would be interested in how this could be useful for you folks!

I built this project because I wanted to keep vibe :D coding at night, but didn't want to bring my entire laptop with me.

I need to demo AD integration functionality with my web-app. Any services you guys recommend that would simulate an environment?
Ask HN: What software are you most thankful for?
Personally, I'm thankful for Atlassian's SourceTree. I'm using version 2.0.5.2 and haven't updated it in over 3~ years. It's a rock-solid piece of software and is able to adapt to a handful of different workflows from all the places I develop for.
At Owlorbit we have created a service that allows managers to reach out to their employees via messages that can be scheduled whenever.
* You can organize your contacts into groups and decide who will receive the texts.
* Have precanned messages ready at your disposal. Tailor your messages for who you will be sending them to.
* Plan your next disaster recovery test drill with our built in ability to send alerts in the future.
You can even demo for free our software and send a scheduled txt msg: https://www.owlorbit.com/trill_index.html?ref=hn1#demo

Show HN: Send scheduled text messages from templates to groups
I put this together to allow managers to reach out to their employees via text messages. With this service, you can send out scheduled pre-canned messages to target groups.
Try sending a demo text to yourself here:

1). If there's a shooter near the premises, they need to quickly alert people.
2). Earthquakes/natural disasters, and you are absolutely right that internet would be first to go down with this scenario. Right now there aren't that many alternatives to bluetooth if the cell signal is down. Bluetooth is only sufficient for small range, but you never know if someone is trapped in closed space. Having this backup is better than nothing.
It would be really cool if offices equipped themselves with battery-powered bluetooth extenders and in these events, communication would be independent of close range + internet.
3). Carbon monoxide leaks are also common causes of concern.
So for example, places that I had previously worked at would have a back-up location that employees would have to navigate to if the main office was closed. This information was all stored in some sharepoint document and employees would have to edit a spreadsheet document when they arrived. With Owlorbit, you can easily place a meet-up point on a map and users in your specific channel can view it. They can also respond to a poll (that gets pushed out to smart-phones) if they are safe.
This tool can be used for other purposes, but I have been gearing all the features towards the business continuity space.

Owlorbit is a platform that you can share your location with the people you trust.
You can create channels, send out polls + messages, add meet-up points, embed live-maps in your sharepoint portal/websites, and now you can program custom applications on top of our API. Think of it as Slack but focused on location business continuity.
Not every business continuity plan is the same, that is why we're empowering companies to create their own location-based solutions by providing this SDK tool-box.
Owlorbit does not keep a history log of locations. It only keeps the very last location stored in the db.
Owlorbit and its API is free for non-commercial users. Don't hesitate to sign-up and test out our full product first before committing for a commercial account!

1). prevent the spread of fake news.. they need a better solution than the user-tagging bs if an article is valid or not. there was a scientologist that had an account that wasn't active for 5+ years, that started posting how puerto rico wasn't that bad when the storm first hit. why is this account not being banned or suspended when people are reporting it and they're reposting pictures from texas claiming it to be all good.
2). prevent outside interference with elections. the first baby step is if they're accepting rubles for political ads targetted at americans, ban it. simple as that. then it'll get more complex and interesting handling proxies doing the dirty deed. the hearing w/ congress was pathetic and makes fb even more untrustworthy.
3). ban fake accounts / tie in a real human behind the account. 100000 fake users means a lot less to me if i'm an advertiser than 10 real people.
even though pretty much everyone i know is on facebook, i'm itching for another platform with better integrity to jump ship to.
