Re:AI music licensing is here. Now what? on Tuesday December 16, 2025 @06:22AM (#46287271)
Two huge (existential-level) risks for artists: 1) Off-platform leakage breaks attribution, so royalties die at export; 2) NIL (voice likeness) sits outside master/composition rights, weakening label control.

The real money for artists is in PRO royalty payouts, so this suggests existing artists are getting screwed.

For publishers, the money is in equity plus retroactive, unattributable settlements—artists will see literal micro-payments unless collective licensing and cross-platform “flight recorder” attribution become standard.

tl;dr Perplexity needs to grow up and web publishers need to band together and form a coalition. Start with copyright.sh meta tags.

Agreed. I understand some level of discretion will be applied, but a blanket statement like this, without detail or examples is not helpful.
About time we had some better data on retention. It's critical to long term success and measuring Product Market Fit.
We're sick of crappy Apple Watch apps being rushed out the door too.

It's been hard to find beta testers for the watch due to the lack of availability and late arrival of the watches.

Ask HN: How much for office space in downtown SF?

I believe WeWork is at about $500 or so per month, but we have a pretty special space in downtown SF with views, directly above Montgomery station and wifi, etc (duh). What are desks going for month to month? Our current office mates are leaving after 2 years. :(

Anyone tried L-theanine + caffeine? How's the price of SPRINT compare to existing ways to take the same combo of nootropics?
Re:Top 4 habits I use to walk more (and get more turf) on Tuesday December 09, 2014 @05:44PM (#8726368)
I'm trying to collect other habits to get more steps in, or to run more, etc. Eg. Run 1 mile a day streaking.
How is this different than lifelens?
Defeat Ask has been around for a bit. Doesn't really look like it's catching on. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/defeat-task/id674002993?mt=8

By far my fav gasified task list is Carrot to do. Love the story, slick interface. Uber geeky yet awesome. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/carrot-to-do/id591840203?mt=...

Re:The ZenCash 2-Day Time Investment Plan on Tuesday October 02, 2012 @02:15PM (#4603374)
I was also just reading an article about how 37 Signals prevents its employees from working more than 4 days per week during the summer (here in SF that should be during May/June and Sept/Oct because who wants to spend an extra day not working in the foggy cold? I digress).

How many people already have a volunteer opportunity that they can plug into? Seems not so easy to do, but perhaps that's the point.

In that vein, check out zencash.com. It automates all the backend payables stuff that Monteiro advocates.

Dude, stop with the late fees and go check out www.zencash.com. It was built exactly for this purpose. Get a better receivables plan. ZC connects to your invoicing app and will send reminders on your behalf, or if you're really done with that customer, send the bill to collections.

It's not worth the stress, trust me, I've been there. Full disclosure: I just joined the team as DoP.
