Re:Track iOS crashes with Hoptoad on Thursday November 11, 2010 @03:21AM (#1893265)
Does anyone know how this compares with Flurry's API to log crashes in iOS apps?

Ask HN: Android vs BlackBerry development?

I want to port a moderately complex Android app to BlackBerry. I understand that BB development is in Java. Can anyone who has done a similar port or has experience in BB development comment on how much work it would be. I am thinking of potentially contracting out the BB development. If anyone here is interested in a BB development project, please contact me using the info in my profile. Thanks!

Ask HN: Any experieces with FairSoftware.net?

My co-founder and I are considering using FairSoftware.net, until we actually set up a C Corp a few months down the road. Any thoughts on whether FairSoftware.net is a good substitute for setting up a C Corp right away? Also, how legally binding is any agreement created in FairSoftware.net. If anyone here has actually started off with FairSoftware.net and then progressed on to a proper C Corp,...

Thanks for sharing the info!

Ask HN: iPhone Push Notifications using Urban Airship?

I want to add push notification capability to my iPhone app, and I am considering using Urban Airship's service versus directly building on APNS. Can someone who has added push notification to his iPhone app, comment on the pros and cons of each approach, or provide alternative suggestions. Thanks!

Re:Ask HN: Implementing referral codes for iPhone app. on Monday February 01, 2010 @03:16PM (#1093341)
Thanks, this helps.

Ask HN: Implementing referral codes for iPhone app.

I am thinking of setting up a referral/affiliate program for my iPhone app. The idea is to give out referral codes to affiliates, and then ask each user to enter an optional referral code, log the code in a Flurry event, and then compensate the affiliate based on Flurry analytics. The problem is that I have to give limited access to my Flurry account to each affiliate so that he can verify how...

Re:Ask HN: Contracting out website design. on Wednesday January 20, 2010 @02:56PM (#1065610)
The $2K quote is for the design only. I would have to write the HTML myself.

Ask HN: Contracting out website design.

I am looking to contract out the design of my iPhone app's website. I contacted a designer whose portfolio I like, and I have received a ~$2K quote for a 3-4 page website design. I have to pay $1k up front, and the rest upon completion. Does that seem reasonable? If some of you can recommend a website designer that you have used in the past that would be helpful. Also, if you can provide data...

Please review my iPhone app.

Fellow HN readers, in particular @wallflower, were kind enough to review my iPhone app last week. Based on that feedback, I have created a lite version.Bugbox Lite is available on the App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bugbox-for-bugzilla-lite/id349892146?mt=8I would request any Bugzilla users on HN to check it out. Re:Please review my Bugzilla iPhone app. on Thursday January 07, 2010 @10:58AM (#1037245)
FYI: It's verified to work with Mozilla's Bugzilla installation.
Re:Please review my Bugzilla iPhone app. on Thursday January 07, 2010 @12:46AM (#1036578)
Thanks a lot for some very thoughtful feedback. I will make an effort to incorporate all of this.

What do you think about a lite version that limits you in terms of the # of bugs downloaded to the app, but otherwise offers the full range of functionality?

Re:Please review my Bugzilla iPhone app. on Wednesday January 06, 2010 @11:25PM (#1036494)
I forgot to add this in the original posting.

Any HN readers who use Bugzilla can get free promo codes by sending an email to [email protected], and mentioning HN. The promo codes only work in the US app store.

Please review my Bugzilla iPhone app.

http://blog.getbugbox.com/?page_id=2

The app is named Bugbox, and it allows you to access your Bugzilla bugs from your iPhone, on-line & off-line. It supports almost the entire range of functionality that Bugzilla's web interface offers. You can find more details on the app store page.HN readers who use Bugzilla for bug tracking can get free promo codes by sending an email to [email protected], and mentioning HN.I would...

Re:Nezumi : iPhone app for Heroku on Tuesday December 29, 2009 @03:19PM (#1021206)
Great app!

Just out of curiosity, is the Heroku market large enough to support a highly customized app like this?

Co-working spaces in/around Santa Clara?

I am looking for a place where I can rent a private office/cube on a daily/weekly basis. There are plenty of good options like Sandbox Suites in SF, but I am looking for something in the South Bay or the Peninsula. Thanks.

HN Poll: What bug tracking software do you use?

I am thinking of a project idea related to bug tracking software, and I am trying to get a rough sense as to what are the most popular bug tracking systems. Which of the following do you use in your job/start-up:- FogBugz - Bugzilla - Mantis - Jira - Trac - Redmine - Other (please provide name)Also, if you could provide the rough number of users that use your particular bug tracking system...

WTF! Is HN now the default Iranian-Elections forum? If I want to follow such news, there are hundreds of other news outlets. Let HN be about hacking.
Re:Bay Area rents down for second straight quarter on Thursday April 23, 2009 @07:53PM (#576670)
To add another data point. I recently rented a 2 BR apt in a nice complex in Santa Clara for $1400. The ad asked for $1500, but I negotiated it down to $1400 with a slightly longer lease term. Just 6 months ago, the same apt was renting for $1800.
Re:Ask HN: Where to find a potential co-founder? on Sunday December 28, 2008 @11:13PM (#412598)
I am looking for a start-up for the all the reasons that PG and other experienced entrepreneurs give for having at least one co-founder.

I am building the prototype on my own, but I would like to have a co-founder to assist with version 1.0, and with the non-technical aspects of a startup.

Ask HN: Where to find a potential co-founder?

I know that this might seem like the wrong question to ask. You are supposed to know your co-founder very well by the time you start a company together. But most of the people whom I know from college are not willing to take the risk of starting a company on their own. It's hard to persuade a risk-averse person to become an entrepreneur, and even if I am able to persuade him, some months down...

Anywhere in the peninsula or even south bay.

Ask HN: Shared office space in Bay Area?

Working from home isn't an option for me, and Starbucks has too many distractions. Can anyone recommend a shared office/cubicle space rental arrangement in the Bay Area. All I need is a power connection for my laptop and high speed Internet. Thanks.
