I would be interested to learn more about Mollie as an alternative to Stripe. I saw that it has some Subscription API endpoints, but I am not sure how it compares in real life to Stripe. How much would I need to build myself in a classical Ruby on Rails SaaS app compared to pay gem/stripe?

Are there any reference implementations for any of mainstream programming language and web development frameworks for this use-case?

Interesting. So, what is the impact on the cognitive functioning of elderly people who regularly take care of their grandchildren?

Re:Show HN: Tesseral – Open-Source Auth on Wednesday May 28, 2025 @07:27PM (#44121520)
I think the logic is to differentiate the "identity" from a "user"

One identity can have multiple users (one for each organization) At the same time, a user can have multiple identities. (e.g. username/password, Google oAuth, SAML etc.)

I visited this site from safari on iOS while being in a Marriott hotel. I am blocked. So the WAF works.

My garden bed has a slug problem. How can FarmBot help me with this? Is there a tool, like a grabber, that automatically catches intruders and carries them away?

This looks cool. It would ve great, if this would get integrated into a Obsidian plugin
Re:Show HN: Porter Cloud – PaaS with an eject button on Friday May 24, 2024 @07:17AM (#40464975)
I wonder how that category of services, which Porter provides could be called.

I would put the following services in that category:

- Porter - Cloud66 https://www.cloud66.com - Hatchbox https://hatchbox.io

They all manage infrastructure on your behalf within a larger Cloud Service Provider.

Terms I could think of are "DevOps as a Service" or "Platform Engineering as a Service".

How would you call this?

And what alternatives do you see?

Really interesting project.

The source code seems to be on sourceforge.net. I site once important, but now when I see it I either think "the project is most-likely dead" or "can this project be legit? Am I getting malware here?"

Re:Why Jira Sucks on Thursday December 31, 2020 @04:33AM (#25591116)
What is missing in my opinion? It is consistency between the atlassian products and/or adherence of industry “standards”

Confluence and JIRA use a different markup language for posts and none of them uses Markdown (in any flavour), which I would also use to write in-code documentation, like in a README file

PwC Germany | Architect; Modern and lightweight architectures | Germany (preferred Munich, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt) | FULL-TIME, ONSITE | https://www.pwc.de/

I am hiring for my team at PwC in Germany.

The team focuses on "digital architecture", which means we focus on the challenge how to bring traditional enterprises in our new, digital world. The architecture point of view spans from strategic Enterprise Architecture, till Solution Architecture level. The expectation is that a good architect is also able to develop by her- or himself.

The Architecture team itself is part of the digital unit of PwC, which focuses on the digital transformations from business strategy, cultural change and architecture point of view.

You are the right girl or guy if you have experience in software development and are interested in becoming an architect. Alternatively, you are already an experienced architect.

German language skills are a must.

Keywords: Kubernetes, hybrid-cloud, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, DevOps, CI/CD, Agile, REST, GraphQL, Microservices Architecture, Event-Driven Architectures, Cloud-Native Architectures etc.

Full job description: https://jobs.pwc.de/Stellenanzeige/2967/C-102395/%28Senior%2...

Apply via the website. Email me for any questions: [email protected]

Sure!

First of all, GK3 would create new nodes when one of them gets killed.

Second, builidng “cloud-native” applications means to build stateless applications, e.g. using 12-factor. So it does not really matter if your application gets killed, restarted or horizontally scaled.

For databases, i always recommend to use a PaaS offering to have an easy and worry-free life

This could even be a business model.

Pay $$$ or €€€ to get enterprise support, promissing to fix your issue with a Pull Request in the mainstream repository

Re:Noteplan – Markdown Calendar, Todos, and Notes on Sunday May 13, 2018 @04:14PM (#17060802)
I tried it out a couple of months ago, but then decided to not go forward with it.

After the trial was over, i was inable ro access my markdown notes again. I really really hate when I get locked into a product. No matter how open and cool it looks thanks to Markdown.

This kind of behaviour is a case of why one should avoid hosting internation conferences in the US.

Sad for the US, but important to keep in mond when organizing.

This could be also the reason or at least be connected to a behavior I experienced when using Apple Maps on the iPhone:

Apple Maps lacks support for bicycles, so when I cycle I usually use the pedestrian mode, as this fits closer to the tracks and routes available for bicycle drivers than the car mode.

But when you cycle to fast, Maps thinks you changed over to a car and tells you to turn around, as the current route does not fit for cars... How common is it see a bicycle in 1 Infinite Loop?
