My sister and I went through how to teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons when I was 4-5 and she was 3-4, would each want to get to read the words we could. Plan to do the same lessons with my daughter, when she shows interest.
Once you learn phonetically and if you have a dictionary it is possible to start working your way though almost any book. I think that love of learning leads to the love of reading, but could be wrong.
Of course, when you read though the Lord of the Rings by eight and tell your friends they should try it, and none of them care that is sad. More so when the movies came out later and then they were all like, did you read this?
This reads like a good portion of books I say need to be grabbed when I see them at sales for our family library. I know some people will disagree, but I feel as though general children's and young adult aimed literature has been harder to find that is both clean and well written.
It is interesting to me that a good story, poorly written, can be souch harder to get though than a well written boring story that just flows well.
I do use safari in my playwright tests, and it led to me doing a note on my known limitations page - that those tests take longer than Firefox and Chrome, my daily drivers. But, that could be due to using it on Linux maybe. I do hate having to dig out ios devices for app testing.
I just put a comment in yesterday for this very reason - there was a flag I had set to false, and then looking at the library docs for something else thought maybe it should be true but that doesn't work how I would have implemented it if I had created the library and written the docs how I did.
It is a very capable library, and when I first started using it the docs were more Oracle docs looking - but I could find what I wanted easily. Now, it is much more annoying to delve through but looks more modern.
And this is why I usually say, I will look at it when I am in front of my computer again for most things, side from a free does where I mainly am reading.
There is one I haven't seen listed yet, Lemmings was one of the games I beat very early in life.
Creepers https://www.myabandonware.com/game/creepers-1kj
Had the same feel from what I remember playing it as a kid. Did the link so it wasn't the wrong one from the screenshots.
It has been years since I went though my totes of PC games, so I was glad I had the right name.
Thanks much - I will look into it today, and reach out if it seems like a good fit for my product.
Thank you. They were originally my first thought, and the one that was acquired was acquired by them.
I have been working on the marketing site for an ETL Product that I am ready to launch, and this thread made me realize that I should ask in another thread about recommended MoR/affiliate programs for current day.
This is meant to be something that will help business teams be better able to communicate what they want, while producing ready to deploy tech artifacts that do not rely on AI.
More importantly, I have been working on being a Dad - something we were told would be impossible naturally. Way more fun than being in front of the computer - our little one is nearly six months old now, and sleeping through the night until usually at least 8 AM, starting to roll over and enjoy tummy time more, and bringing smiles everywhere she goes.

Hello Everyone, long time reader, second time posting a thread. *edit because realized I did one other time.I am nearing the completion of a product, and realized that usually when I am integrating payment it has been for other people who have figured out what providers they want.I am wondering what people recommend from experience. I really want to be able to have an affiliate program set up...
I have to admit that I really love web components ever since Polymer 1, and agree with the article sentiment (this post was starting to get to be a mirror of many of the authors thoughts, so cut it down)
It is very interesting watching the Web cycles, and found it curious how many people here were sad that typescript was not mentioned. There are some fun (though I suppose dangerous) things you can do without it, and I've found it has had very many instances not helped me where expected like a fully matured typed language has. And I've worked with a lot of people who just went I added types and don't know how to use generics.
I guess if you have it poorly implemented, then it's best to leave as JavaScript. And, web components you can keep things very simple... Which helps keep many errors down.
This - games used to regularly drop in price so that if you were patient as a kid you could get more for the same money, and not rush as much. I love rummage sales to this day because of finding so many great deals as a child, but still would save if needed for one in the store. First game I ever got within a week of launch was Yoshi's Island from a second hand store. Physical copies will eventually deteriorate, but they take some time to do so.... Most of my Atari and Coleco stuff still works.
My favorite Zelda game for sure, also the first that I played. Cell shading aged much better than the competition for sure but felt weird at the time.
I actually remember getting so frustrated that I ripped some of my DVDs, made a copy without that, and put it in the same case so that I could just enjoy the movie. VHS you could always fast forward, which is not something I thought I would miss as much as I do. Physical goods that work offline are my default.
I believe that I must be truthful because of my faith, though I understand people feeling pressure otherwise. I have had to quit places that I found lying to part of the employees before.
It is very sad to me that people do feel that pressure, and how the current job market is.
On topic with the article, I would love to be able to trust AI with more, but have found that I have some useful moments with it, but more because of Internet search not being how it used to be for quality.
There could be better, but this looked reasonable at first glance if you also have a Mac.
https://www.thequantizer.com/tutorials/wireshark-iphone-traf...
It has been a while since I personally did such traces, but Wireshark was very simple to use and once the network is exposed, it has lots of information available online if you need more.
I found bypassing your VPN particularly appalling, as is the whole thing. Personally, it would be amazing if there were a limit on how much can be in Terms of Service, as no one wants to read that much anymore.
This was a fun read, as I am planning things for my daughter I love to see other people's ideas. I am actually thinking of using one of my old XP desktops and game tote with offline when she gets older for similar reasons. Watching my nephew with a tablet, I see many bad habits. One thing I appreciate with older tech is the lack of instant gratification so you must learn patience and to think what you really want.
For phone, we might use a Bluetooth to home phone adapter I had got my uncle in the past, not sure yet how things will look in a few years. Then we can have a shared family phone when home was my thought.
I mean, I got about half way through before going blah. But it is a fun looking project and it is great that they are pushing for an open platform.
I like to read, but some writing is more enjoyable than others. If you want to contribute to their wiki, you can do so.
I had it throwing in free advice on my code working as intended, but not a normal pattern. It was something like:"Bonus! This bug exists!" And I had to tell it stop doing that. Or, for generated SQL renaming to keep deeply linked table columns human readable via comments it was - "You can't have a comment of this style here." It works perfectly so yes, yes I can.
I can certainly get it to do things that are reasonably common it seems like.
As for the article itself, I can agree with much of it.
It also used to be an indicator that potentially someone was outsourcing their work overseas.
Edit: I had an instance once where about once a month another developer would ask me about workplace setup, mentioned it to someone and was told maybe they were the English speaker of the group. Upon further investigation, that seemed to be the case.
As long as you are over a certain spend. I started something for my own project and went to apply the recommended architecture, which does not work without a quota increase. As it was from a fresh account, the email was we won't look at this until you spend or pre spend so much money. Frankly, for a trail period when evaluating at prior enterprises, that would have made me just say no to their cloud. One expects that the recommended architecture can be deployed in the trial run without hoops.
I haven't played with the Shadow Dom since Polymer one, but we had defaults and variables to address this that worked amazingly, and helped standardize it with other teams far better than other css things we had done at the time. It looks like that is still a thing -
https://shadow-style.github.io/ - without which people injected things through the CMS that were not fun to deal with.
Space base works well for this for up to eight people with the expansion. I have a friend with a very tiny apartment we have done that in, and while others are buying cards you can enjoy conversation. I used to host a lot when I was able to keep a dedicated hosting area at the one house, but recently not as much unless it's outdoors mainly. If you have a grill you can let people know to bring what they want to grill, and popcorn and some seasoning makes an affordable snack, and if you project a movie somewhere people can disconnect if needed. But yes, I usually use my social energy with family in the area now.
I have been building a library for some time as well, and am ready to learn and teach once my child is ready. Frankly, the internet experience when I was young vs now is crazy. For me, it was dial up with some forums and RuneScape open, chatting via texts in game with my buddies who were considered long distance even though we all went to the same church. The pauses in loading gave time to think up good discussion, and playing things took patience. Now everything wants your attention scattered everywhere, and is flashing in your face. I love having ad blockers because of that. Social media has done nothing good for our world I feel like. Yes, connecting is nice but when you are fed things off of not your actual interest or easily searchable same results but instead whatever drives engagement for ads I like to stay well away.
This is a fun setup, I have a child due in March and have been thinking through all the things to help make things not instant for learning patience as well. While I may still to DVDs for viewing, as I kept my collection building. I do have a floppy drive available and like this idea.
For those talking about not using TV much, or that the UI is slow, my setup is a cheap projector hooked into my sound system and hooking up a laptop when streaming as necessary. Really dislike the smart anything that can be used in other ways for the reasons I already saw mentioned, but it is hard to lag something that has no Internet by looking for ads and updates for sure.
This is why I loved polymer 1 and it's adoption of the shadow dom.
I agree, this is an excellent idea and I am excited to try it.
I concur, and given the amount of apps they build it makes sense to spend the money on a good build server to me, especially if it is someone with experience hosting trusted servers as mentioned as well as a contributor already. If people do not want to use it, the source code to build yourself is still available for the apps they supply.
Merry Christmas to all. On the note above, there is not a lot of Biblical Christianity seen today, as many do not read the Bible. It is very sad to me, and why I like to make a distinction. It is lovely to see such cheer in this thread overall though, and if you are a professing Christian I would urge you to be reading and studying your Bible.
I know we have older models for upstairs and down, and saw a newer one with camera at a thrift store. It could have been a different brand, but I saw camera facing up at about 30 degrees and thought to myself, nope. There are reports of it sending revealing pictures I read, and am quite happy that the bump and go ones keep down dust and fur overall. Most of my wifi gadgets have cameras not moving on their own.
