Vertical indoor farming is the paradigm shift we’ve been waiting for. Thanks in part to advances in LED lighting efficiency and cost. Much more land and water efficient.
NextDNS , highly recommended.

Yes this and also some states are highly over taxed / priced so people are willing to pay competitive street prices in blind faith.
Am I the only one surprised these FB & Apple NSO lawsuits are just now happening?

Perhaps it just takes times to build a case for court?

NextDNS offers “ Native Tracking Protection “ Which is currently in BETA. … “Block wide spectrum trackers — often operating at the operating system level — that track your activity on a device. This could include all the websites you visit, everything you type or your location at all times.”

Wow, thanks for sharing this.

I’ve seen a huge demand for houseplants in the States but New Zealand is taking it to the next level! Its Tulip mania all over again haha.

Re:Red delicious apples weren’t always horrible on Sunday August 01, 2021 @10:59PM (#28032439)
Please support your local orchards if possible!

The apples you find in stores don’t even compare to some of the unique cultivars you can find at many orchards

For iOS YT users: hit refresh when the ad starts playing. Watch the ad go away. Voila.
The article doesn’t mention anything about Apples Security Research Devices (SRD).

How does this compare to Qubes+Whonix ?

For anyone interested in the breeders behind these (delicious) grapes.

Side note: I am very excited to see this thread alive.. I remember seeing it on New with 1 upvote thinking it wouldn't make the front page.

I consider most, if not all, tap water unsafe and recommend further filtration practices like reverse osmosis.

Secondly, I’ve seen many ice machines throughout my prior work and would strongly recommend avoiding ice cubes as most kitchens don’t clean these properly.

I love seeing new technologies like this emerge during these changing and unfamiliar times.

Face time calls on a remote satellite internet setup will be revolutionary.

You’re welcome. Thrips is just an example I used because it tends to be the most common. I still think you should rephrase your statement because saying there are ‘No’ pressures is wishful thinking and unrealistic in any growing environment.
Re:Show HN: Growing Wine Grapes in My Parents' Basement on Friday October 02, 2020 @04:38PM (#24666778)
“ No disease, pest or fungal pressures to influence harvest decisions”

This is inaccurate and misleading. . Every greenhouse grower is at risk of disease/pest/fungal pressures, especially the one known as Thrips.

Re:LG unveils battery-powered air purifying face mask on Friday August 28, 2020 @12:05AM (#24301251)
I’m really excited to see more innovative products like this. I’ve always been a fan of hepa filters and clean air. Also to be honest, every LG product I’ve owned has always continued to work for many years.
When studying flora, things like color or inflorescence, for example, are examined with excessive concern with minor details, though.
Right, but botanically speaking, we have not found a “true blue” plant.
Do you ever manipulate your hydrangeas’ color by changing soil pH? One easy way is adding used coffee grinds.
Those plants that do appear blue are in fact often using a red pigment known as anthocyanin. Through pH shifts and a mixing of pigments, combined with the reflection of natural light, the plants are able to generate the appearance of a naturally occurring, blue color. That's the reason why plants such as bluebells, hydrangeas and morning glories appear various shades of blue, when in fact, as Lee explains, "There is no true blue pigment in plants."
Fwiw, I hold a degree in Horticulture. A good source is David Lee, author of Nature's Palette: The Science of Plant Color and a retired professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University in Miami.
The only blue flowers we have are dyed.

We do not know of any “true blue” plant pigments. There are violets and many colors that might look close..
