well done. perhaps check IP geo to know whether to show kms or miles. i kept getting the continent wrong. perhaps zoom the map to the right continent so I'm picking where on the continent it is vs where in the world. if you want to make some $, perhaps have some of the places be popular destination cities for my geo and after the guess, let folks click to "get there" over to hipmunk and get an affiliate fee

a school at stanford and they lack technology? perhaps someone should quickly build an ipad app to put on the table at the auction. onsite folks can bid on the ipad, and folks at home can bid via browser. take twitter id so all bids are tweeted to drive even more bidders. perhaps the basis for a yc startup...

i wouldn't recommend making it a trial. folks won't want to do the work to create their collab groups. let this spread virally and then figure out a freemium upsell later. for example perhaps you let groups add a virtual currency in a pro account, or your allow unlimited collab group creation but invitees get up to 3 groups they can join and then need to go pro.

rather than get my pc with xp out of my briefcase, i picked up my wifes mac air and with outlook web access i can grab email and with mionews.com i can read friendfeed and news. biggest difference left is instant on...and of course IM which requires a thick client to be good.

so i'm a VC and i don't bother to ask that question. there is no value in asking that and not a question you want to answer IMHO. Most important is to get referred into a VC if possible from someone who trusts you and who the VC knows well. VCs are a lot more frank with a trusted referrer usually than they are with the entrepreneur and the referrer can signal that the deal is getting traction. That seems to matter, probably too much, to most VCs.
