Re:On Mastery on Sunday June 03, 2012 @09:25AM (#4060702)
The real question is how do we define "success"? Is success making a lot of money? How much is enough to qualify as "successful"?

We tend to narrowly define success based solely on extrinsic values like money and status, rather than intrinsic values like mastery, purpose, and happiness.

I think the author is saying that focusing on mastery is more likely to lead to "success" in the form of happiness and a greater sense of purpose, regardless of whether or not it also leads to material wealth. Personally, I agree with this more holistic view of success.

Great idea. Anyone else signing up from Zurich?

Re:HTML5 Canvas Cheat Sheet on Saturday May 14, 2011 @07:31AM (#2547517)
For anyone interested in cheat sheets, I maintain a cheat sheet directory. There are currently 25 HTML5 cheat sheets listed (including this one) - http://devcheatsheet.com/tag/html5/
Re:HTML5 and CSS3 Cheat Sheets on Thursday May 05, 2011 @10:25AM (#2517450)
Always nice to read an article that recommends your website :)

I've already added all of the cheat sheets from this article to http://DevCheatSheet.com/

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely check that out.
Re:Nice cheat sheet collection on Monday November 15, 2010 @02:56AM (#1905626)
I am the founder of DevCheatSheet. Pleasantly surprised to see my site on Hacker News again. Thanks bemmu!

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about the site. Also, let me know if you have any feedback.

To answer some of the common questions/feedback:

* So far I have been focused on adding content, but now the site needs some sort of filtering to identify the relative value of each cheat sheet and easily find what you are looking for. I am still exploring different options for this including: page-rank type popularity scores, HN-style up/down voting, or traditional user star ratings.

* Every cheat sheet is manually reviewed. I don't add every single page that calls itself a cheat sheet. There is definitely a wide range of quality, but this is somewhat inevitable given this is user-generated content aggregated from around the web. This is not necessarily a bad thing: for example, an obscure topic might only have one single low-quality cheat sheet, but this is still useful and better than no results.

Re:Remind HN: November is Launch an App Month on Monday November 01, 2010 @04:14PM (#1858032)
I have a busy month, but this has inspired me to build the Android app I keep thinking about...
I am actually working on a very similar site. Glad to see that others see the same need for this. Nicely executed.
Re:Clojure 1.2 quick reference/cheat sheet on Wednesday July 14, 2010 @01:45AM (#1513725)
I've added this to the list of Clojure cheat sheets on DevCheatSheet - http://devcheatsheet.com/tag/clojure/
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on today? on Friday July 09, 2010 @11:11AM (#1500868)
I'm working on promoting/marketing my cheatsheet site - http://devcheatsheet.com/

I'm also just starting development on a new site - a directory of tech events and conferences. Hope to have a very basic alpha version by next week.

Great idea. Like everyone else, I am all for better restaurant websites and no more PDF menus.

I was slightly confused whether this was only mobile or if there was a possibility of building a full website + mobile version. It might help you convince restaurants to use this service if it can handle all of their restaurants website needs in one place.

Re:Git Reference on Friday June 11, 2010 @12:35AM (#1422811)
I've just added this to DevCheatSheet.com. There are now 20 cheatsheets for Git, if anyone is interested - http://devcheatsheet.com/tag/git/

I saw this on HN about a month ago. I'm enrolled so I hope it is worthwhile.

Probably not the solution you are looking for, but you can always use your browser to zoom out or make the text smaller.
Re:Show HN: My weekend project - minimotivation.com on Wednesday March 17, 2010 @10:24AM (#1198600)
Yes, I am manually adding the content.

I like the idea of integrating with twitter, facebook, buzz, etc. I will be looking into it.

Thanks! And nice collection.

Added the attribution and link to XKCD.

I don't consider it "stealing their bandwidth" though, as XKCD explicitly allows hotlinking - http://xkcd.com/license.html

Re:Show HN: My weekend project - minimotivation.com on Wednesday March 17, 2010 @07:40AM (#1198311)
Not yet, but I'd like to add it.

Until then, feel free to post suggestions here!

I was thinking about adding a permalink. I'll do that now. Thanks.
Re:Show HN: My weekend project - minimotivation.com on Wednesday March 17, 2010 @06:54AM (#1198264)
No, I had actually never heard of fortune, but I will look into it now :)

I am currently just hand selecting the content and storing it in a database. Nothing fancy.

Re:Show HN: My weekend project - minimotivation.com on Wednesday March 17, 2010 @04:29AM (#1198122)
FYI - I created this simple site for myself. I use it as my homepage to get a little motivational reminder every time I open a new tab.

I thought it might be useful for startup founders, entrepreneurs, freelancers, or anyone who works alone.
