Supposedly Microsoft skipped 9 because of a lot of hardcoded checks for windows 95 and 98 that checked the first digit
It's not that kind of implant.
I used to roll my own (respectful) scrapers. AI and vibecoders have ruined it for me. Everyone has super sensitive rate limiting and not checking now.
On my GrapheneOS phone, the only things that I came across that require (and thus fail) maximum level attestation are Google Pay and the app for McDonald's for some reason.
I was about to comment the same thing. You spend the whole article talking about S3 and explaining recursive CTEs but gloss over triggers?
Pro tip the whole point is that it was made by an illustrator, and that's also the reason it's on the frontpage.
The same happened in FOSS. I have little interest to contribute nowadays, when GitHub is full of vibe coders naming themselves engineers.
I thought the same! Thank dang for putting this in the second-chance pool (without my intervention).
That video was indeed where I found out about this!
And (at at least in European Portuguese), a speed bump is a "lomba".
Also we don't say caroço or solavanco for that, at least where I live. I would probably say "alto" in both cases.

What do you mean by "made with npm"?
The original comment doesn't tell the whole story. Street facing surveillance cameras are allowed if they are strictly covering the entrances to the building.
The brand gender is really interesting. We will usually use the gender of the type of vehicle. So for saying "My Honda" we will use masculine if it's a car (O meu [carro] Honda), but feminine if it's a van (A minha [carrinha] Honda).
And I learned that it's masculine in Brazil! :)
I rent two cars, a bus, a small aeroplane and an excavator. At that rate, if I buy this bicycle it will be paid back in an hour!
In (European) Portuguese some people (I've seen this more in older people) use feminine for hamburgers (like in Spanish, afaik), but most people use masculine. I guess it would make sense to be feminine because it's a sandwich, and sandwich is feminine.
Pixel market share is and always has been absolutely tiny, and the people that care about this are a rounding error.
I have USB, Generic Power, IEC, Network, Audio/Video, Misc
The "põe-no" example really threw me off, but after some reading it turns out it's the technically correct form. I'm pretty sure I've always heard "põe-o" in that case.
> Have you ever tried reading a book while being driven around? You get car sick really fast, because your vestibular system does not like constantly getting jostled around with mismatching visual inputs.
I don't suffer from this all, and judging by watching people in public transport I'm not alone.
>You can't just say: "We'll just remove 10% of our GDP and we'll be fine".
Where did I say that? I know we're heavily dependent on tourism. I believe a big part of the reason is that tourism has been prioritized over more complex industries for a long time. It's a crutch that doesn't let us evolve our economy.
In Portugal, the providers were fined for showing ads in recordings and ordered to stop.
Isn't the WASM attack surface absolute minuscule when compared to JS? Do you also disable web workers?
I live in Portugal, near Lisbon (not in Lisbon, as it has become impossible to afford for locals, even tech workers). Many times it would be cheaper for me to travel by plane to a city like London, than the gas+tolls cost to visit my family that live less than 1h away by car. It takes ~2h30 minimum by public transport.
I find it pretty ridiculous how the carbon taxing is extremely heavy on cars, but pretty much non-existing for air travel here. Tourism is a terrible industry that doesn't even contribute that much to our economy, depletes the housing stock, and removes local businesses and culture, but the tourists are always prioritized by government.
I would rather hear human voices than synthesized ones. I don't care how realistic they sound. I'm not alone, and the sentiment will certainly grow.
Would be cool to see data for an older timespan, starting pre-LLM
What's the European alternative to a Mac Mini?
Why don't people use Google for such incredibly simple questions instead of asking the comment section?
