Re:Ask HN: Is it finally time to quit? on Tuesday September 24, 2019 @05:02PM (#21064589)
Thankyou. I had forgotten that when I posted. The US is my main target market and it is the quiet time of year.

Ask HN: Why did Facebook disable my account?

I signed up for an account, filled out a few details and literally just hours later, tried to log in and account was suspended. I had to send a photo for verification and 24 hours later was informed my account was disabled. To dispute the decision they want me to send a legal document as ID. I'm not prepared to do that so I guess that's that?

I was going to suggest to anyone interested in VMS to head over to the deathrow cluster but unfortunately it's now dead. https://deathrow.vistech.net/410.html

6 months. General advice is always n months, however that advice is so generic as to be meaningless.
From what I've seen of exorcisms on TV, they certainty do look exhausting.
I use GNUcash for business too, but use git as storage/sync instead.

Also a simple fast tool with some handy little reports and graphs is http://homebank.free.fr/en/ We still use this for our personal finances.

By consensus of the Joneses.
Re:They resent the fact I’m not a robot on Tuesday February 26, 2019 @03:17PM (#19257957)
I had a similar experience working for a food distribution wholesaler in Melbourne. We rode pallet trucks and time pressure was so intense that there were guidelines on the number of steps where it was more efficient to walk next to the pallet truck rather than ride on it. I couldn't keep up and lasted all but 2 weeks. This was 25 years ago and it's disappointing nothing has changed.
We need a version of Godwin's law for slack.

Did you use the word in error or is this another example of the trend of start-ups using verbs to replace nouns?

Yeah, nah, yeah. In the middle of stinking hot Australia, so probably not.

Around 1980 seems right. This was an Australian science show for children. Loved that show.
