I am leading the development of a student information system product. There is a disagreement with my product team and a different department on if our access control is FERPA compliant. I am building a document and making my case to our legal department.Does anyone know of any resources that give examples of what is and what is not FERPA compliant, specifically related to EdTech? I’m doing ok. I was recently promoted from Technical Product Manager to Director of Product Development. I am making well into 6 figures. Not super happy with the relationship I’m in. Girlfriend spending habits are out of control
First thing I would do is download and build. Then find he incr method/interfaces/etc. Then rename all of those to mult and try and rebuild and see if mult works identically to incr. Then start working on modifying incrementing toy multiplying.
Except you can’t on mobile, and people only watch YouTube on mobile
Tbh most adults I meet function at a 12 year old level. Have you ever tried to see an adult do math? I’m talking about adults who aren’t engineers, doctors, etc.
Pretty bold statement to claim most pediatric oncologists are sociopaths. You took a big shit on some of the admirable people in our society
As a former drug addict with a DWI felony I often wonder what my life would be like if I hadn’t gotten into tech at a young age and somehow managed to graduate from university. At 200k a year in a medium COL city I can just barely afford a house, car, and girlfriend while adding some money to savings every week. I don’t understand how people can live on 45k a year let alone 30k a year
I’m less concerned about privacy and more concerned about a bug in their code causing my microphone to say mute but not mute
When in doubt I go on LinkedIn and find an engineer that works for the company and message them directly.
You think companies are being screwed and this concerns you?
Every middle management role I ever had was in name only. I was basically a SDE that also acted as a proxy between project people and other engineers
If this is true it hasn’t really been exposed for my team
You didn’t download the WSDL
I went to prison. Living around savages. Having to shit and shower basically without privacy will remove any shyness or modesty
This is crazy I was thinking of offing myself and was wondering how my parents would be able to contact my work. Would it be a slack message? Idk
Seems like they reduced relevant search results to me
Idk I guess just the time difference. It seems odd to write about it 4 years later. I don’t have any true rationale
Also you need to buy the Pixel directly from Google. If you buy from carrier you can opt too the Pixel
Should’ve created some backup codes
I work for a 10,000 employee organization ( not technically a software company but definitely an who’s customers are engineers and has a strong engineering culture ). We don’t have dedicated QA people by name, but we do have sever BAs who are essentially dedicated QA. Commits need to have test cases, then they get code reviewed, merged into erotic branch, epic branch merged into one of the dev. The. Our technical product managers generally test it ( at my org our technical product managers are highly technical and write code themselves ). Then generally we merge into test and eventually BAs test it. That’s generally how it works where I’m at currently. I’ve only ever worked for one org with a dedicated QA team

I’ve been meaning to create a tech blog for a long time. Would it be unethical to fudge the published date on some blog posts I wrote but never publishe ( because I had no blog ). For example I wrote a post about my presentation at Oracle Open World in 2018…. But it would seem weird if I wrote about my 2018 presentation in 2022. What’s everyone’s thoughts on fudging the date on my blog ( IE say...
Product Management. I hate it, but I was too stupid to get into FAANG as an SDE and my personality type better matches the role. I love coding and have done it my whole life and for 10 years professionally but at the highest level I’m simply not as smart as other people
The “alcoholism is an incurable disease” trope came from a religious organization peddling snake oil. Not the best foundation to build your argument on. Studies indicate that many people are cured of their alcoholism and addiction. Generally through “aging out”. Additionally, just like alcoholism, the problem is the result not the cause. Alcoholics who don’t drink also don’t run over kids. People who don’t endlessly scroll don’t waste 5 hours a day. It doesn’t matter how it’s achieved
45 minutes? I’m a VP of Product and work 12 hour days, yet someone I spent 9 hours a day ( as per my iPhone ) on my iPhone… most of it in an endless scroll k-hole
Cool but this has been around since forever
