News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

That line jumped out at me too. It makes no sense and only serves to confirm a conclusion he had already made.
Re:GameStop CEO decries 'wokeness and DEI' on Tuesday February 18, 2025 @08:13PM (#43097361)
He’s a neo-nazi piece of shit. Look at his comments, and then openly wish for him to kill himself.
Re:GameStop CEO decries 'wokeness and DEI' on Tuesday February 18, 2025 @08:11PM (#43097340)
You’re a pathetic loser.
Re:GameStop CEO decries 'wokeness and DEI' on Tuesday February 18, 2025 @07:50PM (#43097153)
Virtue signaling garbage.
Re: on Sunday February 09, 2025 @02:47PM (#42993174)
Why did you let the article that was posted about a16z and Daniel Penny get flag killed so many times?

It’s so lame and tiresome —- powerful tech people look like idiots, it gets killed on here.

Re:A16Z to Hire Daniel Penny on Tuesday February 04, 2025 @07:57PM (#42941883)
That is as pathetic as it gets. Regardless of how you feel about Daniel Penny’s role in the death of Jordan Neely, he is wholly unqualified for that job and it is the exact kind of virtue-signaling nonsense that a16z and others have been braying about non-stop.

It’s just so tiring and so gross. Like, what are we doing right now? What is happening here?

OpenRCT2 is amazing as well. Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 was an absurdly entertaining game, and this wrapper makes it even better.

The hagiography of Palantir on here is so tiresome.

Moderates are pushed to the right because they are butthurt by someone believing that lying is bad?

OK.

Ha. Imagine believing this. Yeah, please let me know when Chamath corrects the record on the topic in question.

These guys are charlatans. These lying idiots have absolutely no shame in misleading you, and you are falling for it.

“Oh, it’s just entertainment. Oh, it’s just opinion. Oh, you shouldn’t take them seriously.”

No. Absolutely not. I refuse to give them a pass. We have to stop normalizing this behavior. Ethics matter. Character matters. The truth matters.

It absolutely is. Go look at the racial demographics of the neighborhoods where DMVs are being opened and closed. And then ask yourself which racial groups, at large, are more likely to have time in their day to sit at an inconveniently located DMV and what party they most often vote for.
Weed culture is the most boring shit imaginable. Most stoners I know, and most definitely this guy, simply cannot shut up about it. It’s worse than CrossFit used to be.
Re:New York Times tech workers union votes to authorize a strike on Tuesday September 10, 2024 @04:13PM (#41505020)
Don’t do this.
I would have thought Chris Knight and Mitch Taylor would have had a hand in it.
Enshittification.
Sega Channel was very similar to this, and was completely awesome.
Re:Ottertune.ai Is Shut Down on Friday June 14, 2024 @07:39PM (#40686203)
Huh. That looks like an insanely qualified founding team. Not a big enough market?
Huh. My understanding based on article after article talking to the average voter is that the American economy is garbage, that milk is now $37, and the only way to reverse it is to elect a convicted felon.
Gurbaksh is truly a world class piece of shit.
This reads like paid placement to me. Gross.
Diana Moskovitz (and the team at Defector) is an absolute treasure. The absolute decimation of Deadspin at the hands of Gawker/Spanfeller is one of the biggest disappointments of my lifetime.
The CEO who signed all of those term sheets is STILL crying, like five years later, about how badly he supposedly got hosed, as if someone else’s signature is on all of those documents. It’s pathetic.
Re:Kai Fu Lee's New AI Company: Yi-Open Source on Monday November 06, 2023 @03:04AM (#38159929)
Matt Levine once described this very well, although he did it when referring to Adam Neumann and WeWork. I’m paraphrasing, but there are a subset of people who are able to consistently and accurately to great success exploit a bubble in the VC world, by dint of exactly knowing what to say and of being able to get the meeting in the first place.

Lee being able to credibly sell bullshit like the quoted claim is a feature, not a bug. It’s somewhat irrelevant if he actually believes it.

Yes.

He was also a huge bully at Facebook —- it’s well known that everyone strongly disliked him personally —- and his behavior at SocialCapital was so bizarre that every other partner in the firm quit.

Yeah, you all can sit here and make jokes on HN, but you’re not the man in the arena.

DeSantis has lots of good qualities and good positions but his bizarre culture-war obsessions make him look foolish and are absolutely destroying him on the national scene.

If he would just focus on a pro-business, pro-development message, it would resonate. Instead he largely comes across as a weird, awkward troll.
