I have had bad experience with their apps, I don't particularly remember what it was as it was a few years ago but it was their notes app. They limit some basic features and push you to buy their premium versions.

Re:It looks like I’m moving to Mastodon on Saturday November 05, 2022 @03:37AM (#33478903)
Anecdotal - I had a account in one of the largest english mastodon instances for a few years now and have seen multiple waves of twitter exodus into mastodon. Server becomes extra lively for a few weeks and then it returns to normal. None of these people last.

I've seen people loose 40% laundering gift cards.
What's the difference?
This is where Monero (a cryptocurrency with anonymity built in) could have been able to hide the donors identity from being shared with the government.

Re:Serious Bug in MongoDB Geospatial distance calculation on Thursday May 19, 2022 @09:56AM (#31434713)
It is bug on the mongodb Go driver. I have been using mongodb geospatial queries in nodejs; that too in production, this definitely scared me.
Re:Twitter CEO fires two top executives, freezes hiring on Thursday May 12, 2022 @05:55PM (#31360605)
I will never understand this. I thought vine was going to be the next big thing right until the day they decided to shut it down.
Re:ActivitySub on Thursday May 05, 2022 @03:36AM (#31270636)
There is already the activitypub client to server protocol but there is 0 interest in it.
I don't understand where there is a kill switch when you can just turn off your vehicle using the key? Besides killing the engine will mean no power to the brakes and steering as well.
Re:Limb lengthening surgery is becoming more popular on Saturday April 30, 2022 @04:56PM (#31219259)
Do you actually think they will be fit for police jobs after such surgeries?

Re:Etsy Strike on Monday April 11, 2022 @04:27PM (#30994453)
Slightly off topic: I frequently hear it mentioned in threads like this that Chinese companies are able to compete with native sellers even while shipping individual pieces to customers? How does it even work? international shipping is not cheap, especially when you're not shipping in volume. Is the shipping cost included in the product? If anyone can direct me to info on how this trade works I would be thankful.
Re:QEMU 6.2 on Thursday December 16, 2021 @07:34AM (#29577508)
I'm using utm to run a ubuntu server that where I do all my dev work. Since it is a vm I am a lot less scared of messing up my main system. It is very convenient with vscode remote, which only needed to be configured once and will automatically connect to the vm.
Re:Memory leaks are crippling my M1 MacBook Pro on Sunday November 07, 2021 @02:51PM (#29142838)
I'm facing the similar issues with my m1 air(8 GB). Recently firefox managed to get to 44GB. I'm closing and re-opening my applications; and checking the memory pressure when things start to feel sluggish. Also unrelated but my speakers have started to sound like garbage.
Re:People who have unusual, or non-existent, inner voices on Wednesday November 03, 2021 @06:34AM (#29092895)
Have you tried changing your inner voice to some one else's voice? I'm usually have 1 primary voice but I can synthesize anyone's voice. For example, if I'm reading something that I know was written by a woman my brain automatically makes up a female voice for it.
Re:Nitter and other Internet reclamation projects on Sunday September 26, 2021 @12:36PM (#28662273)
I'm using this for about a month now and the only problem is the default instances that are used are getting rate-limited/blocked; so you will have to find or host your own fresh instance.
