I think another boat to consider are those who consume more than they produce. 'Doing' and 'discussing' are both 'producing' activities but much more demanding than absorbing content.
Re:Efficiency trades off against resiliency
on Sunday April 16, 2023 @04:11AM (#35588170)
However, the comparison about efficiency to resiliency against small teams is something I havn't thought about.
Interesting point about declaring a system is wasteful and inefficient without considering what that 'waste' is buying.

Re:Saying Goodbye to GitHub – Ersei 'N Stuff
on Monday April 03, 2023 @05:57AM (#35420937)

Re:My experience being blocked by Google Safe Browsing
on Sunday April 02, 2023 @07:14AM (#35409326)
Do we know what categories a website to be part of the 'safe browsing' list? Did the author confirm that his similarly designed mastodon server was the culprit or just a hunch?

This article and discussion thread has been really insightful. I've been avoiding chatgpt because I feel like I will not learn as well compared to prototyping and agonising through documentation.
I'll take this mentality onboard to more ambitious projects.
Re:Early Remote Work Impacts on Family Formation
on Thursday March 30, 2023 @06:25AM (#35370521)
The question of 'WFH impact on family formation' is fairly obvious considering time saved from commuting and 'parent-work hybrid' mode at home. However, since this is a study on working class woman, is the overall trend of increased birthrates true if we consider non-working e.g. jobs lost from covid?
