I think we're beyond this already for most Claude/ChatGPT users they just assume that everything is written by AI because that's what they'd do. Credibility has been lost, but certainly there are many cases where human thinking will improve the final artifact, I think it's enough to focus on improving quality vs some moral high ground.
> If the task turns out to be unneeded, go back to 1.
No one person should decide that a task is "unneeded".
Most items in this suggested workflow are actually attainable via SCRUM.

The use case at the moment is around media that includes audio of the user. Usertesting.com sessions work well, but because you don't get any audible feedback from Inspectlet we can't really do much analysis on those sessions as our tech is focused on transcriptions and analyzing user testing transcriptions.

It's hard to read stories like this. It's so clear that the diversity issues in the tech industry are in part a signal of a much larger issue in our nation. Under represented minorities have such a tough time getting a decent education let alone one in computer science.
That said, I'm hopeful that the industry that I'm a part of can play a large role in fixing this.
This seems potentially misleading without proper context, like... were "favorites" growing before, if so at what rate?

+1 not sure where "to store the information in the DHT you'd have to attach it to a torrent" comes from.
Sounds like they're sorting through the contents: "We'll give away or properly dispose of your items."

Thanks for the feedback. We'll definitely be focusing on stability and getting updates out as often as possible in the next few weeks. Definitely send in any other feedback you have if you continue to give it a shot.
The BitTorrent protocol will remain open. This is a private alpha release of a version of it that is more focused on web content. - Project Maelstrom team member.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. We've thought about a lot of this. This is our first stab at trying to push a lot of these thoughts and ideas forward.
Privacy is a factor, it's just not the factor that drives most decisions around consumer software (at least mass market adoption). It's true that Facebook and others have emphasized privacy, but they have not compromised the user experience. Projects like this are challenging because you're forcing some behavioral changes for additional security.
They pulled the plug on this pretty quickly. It's not really clear how they'll transform it in the future, but I think the larger point is still valid. They should not be dependent on a single source of revenue.
Agreed. I'd love to see demographic info from these companies. That said, they can still be pretty successful this way, I just feel it's disingenuous to claim otherwise.
This seems like a more realistic theory. I've only ever known people to use these services to save money or in a few rare cases because their was no other supply for the service at the time.
Agree 100%.
It does not seem difficult to understand both sides in a situation like this. It seems like something that probably happens all the time, especially in regards to charities.
I think this is what makes me hate this purchase. The most interesting part of Oculus to me was the "open-ness" of the platform. They were seemingly doing an amazing job of getting developers interested in the platform. I'd argue that Facebook does a pretty terrible job on both fronts.
I believe we're already seeing this as a valid business market in the sense that a well designed app often finds a market against the less designed more utilitarian open source competitor. I think this is in line with the "luxury" business model where designers and engineers focused on "the experience" are the new craftsmen.
How does a YC backed company create a video with audio that's clearly watermarked. Presumably they could afford the $17 license...
"They are literally throwing away the notion of profitability or monetization."
To be fair Google had no idea how they were going to monetize search for a significant amount of time.
I'd say the pivot is from usefulness / utility to entertainment / novelty.
The irony of, "[t]he Machiavellian view on this is if you are the founder you actually want to pretend you have a huge ideological mission, even if you don’t."
I've seen a lot of founders actually start off this way, they come up with a mission post product. The best are actually capable of being delusional enough to believe this mission over time.
