> But the "Sign in with Facebook" button didn't appear by magic on the Android app, did it? Someone had to add support to their app for it.
It would be nice if you could add an identity provider to your OS and the app could ask the OS to identify you using your provider of choice for that application.
It's not always going to be running at top speed.
Thanks. That was two years ago. I wonder how much has changed since then?

So I've been mostly doing back end stuff for a few years. My ability to fix float issues in IE6 just isn't relevant any more. What's the best way to get an understanding of modern CSS and web design? Preferably simple approaches that don't involve horrible, huge, redundant class names or bloated, overbearing frameworks. This is for a couple of personal projects. I may ultimately end up hiring...

I think everything needs to be based in the EU. I'm looking for providers who:* Will be robust in the face of legal threats / complaints.* Comply with German privacy / data protection law.I'm also interested in any resources useful to a new non-profit CTO.Many thanks.
I would say I'm ten times more productive at 35 than I was at 26. Seek inspiration, self-knowledge and maturity away from the computer screen. Climbing a mountain as a metaphor for making persistent progress with a project works much better when you have struggled to climb a mountain or two in the fog.
SEEKING WORK - Berlin / UK / Remote
British full stack developer. Lots of experience building rails and django applications. Likes React, immutable servers and learning new languages. Dislikes Chef, Angular and Drupal. Looking for small but interesting projects.
> Mr Moore is said to have paid Mr Evens to hack into hundreds of victims' email accounts to obtain more nude photos to post on the website.
I think this is what they are charging him for - not for hosting genuine UGC.
A great thing about the web is that a multitude of server side languages can be used. While I don't ever want to have to write the same template twice, having everything converge on nothing but Javascript doesn't seem like a very inspiring future to me.
The url for the freelancer thread points back here.
Does anyone know the censorship policies for all UK network operators? My contract is up.
I'm not going to sign up just to check the interface out. Maybe you could implement lazy registration.
An approach I'd like to try is allowing the template designer to expose a certain amount of grid changing freedom. I'd also like to experiment with content types that have a render method parameterised by width (and possibly height).
Thanks! That was what I meant. I'm building a CMS and I'd like to include a layout manager.. I'll certainly be checking out Jetstrap for inspiration.
I'd be very interested to see some sort of visual grid editor for bootstrap or a similar framework.
Do you have a password reset? I've forgot mine for richard.tent.is
Maybe you could release an API so other people could write clients.
Maybe have some filtering by country visible on the home page. It took me a while to figure out you actually had British beers in your database.
Also, I realise you're a ruby programmer but you should really consider including Python IPA http://littlevalleybrewery.co.uk/our-beers/python-ipa :)
Wow, that sounds quite scary. I'd love it if you did release the source though, it'd be a great project for me to build an interactive version. (Whether or not it would get further than any of my other side projects is another matter :) Anyway, my email is in my profile and I'd be very interested if you did release something.
I'd love to see some of the code behind these maps. Are they rendered with mapnik? How practical would it be to make some of them live and interactive? Especially now we have vector graphics in the browser.
Thanks - that does sound like a big advantage of the deb / rpm route. Plus you don't really want your app servers spending their CPU time compiling.
Fabric isn't normally deployed on target servers though - it connects to them through SSH.
> Moreover, JS is really fast to write and test. Write – save – refresh; it’s an absurdly fast dev cycle that lets me iterate on questionable portions of the code much faster than any environment I’ve worked in.
I'm planning on looking into headless testing to eliminate the whole icky business of switching to the browser and hitting refresh. I find this much more of a drag than rerunning server side tests in a terminal.
Django's conservatism in this regard doesn't really impact on application developers building on top of Django.
Usual practice is to use virtualenv which allows for an up to date python on OSes with an ancient system python.

Two spaces are the norm for ruby development but it seems fairly new in javascript.
