You use WSUS to control your updates and GPO's to control most everything else. It's not hard.
"Instead, we need to re-imagine what kind of society we want our children to inherit and what our schools must provide in order to create such a society."

I work in k-12 and let me stop you right there. If you want to change a society then you better start with the parents and not rely on the school to raise your child.

Inmates can choose to do this. Considering that, I don't have a problem with this at all.

Seems like there may be a market for a new tier of uber. Maybe one were the car standards and passenger expectations aren't as high.

I'm curious why the desktop OS matters and why they suggest using linux to thwart NSA surveillance.
Re:Uber Leaving Kansas on Thursday May 07, 2015 @04:33PM (#9508094)
I agree with you. It doesn't seem far fetched at all to require that information. I don't use Uber but a lot of points in the bill could easily be built into the app (if it's not already).

Re:Maelstrom, the BitTorrent Browser Is Now in Public Beta on Monday April 13, 2015 @11:21AM (#9368114)
It won't install for me. I suspect it's being caught by av or anti-malware software on my machine but I'm not excited enough to troubleshoot it.
So.... did he miss the exit?
Re:Gamification of teeth brushing on Thursday April 09, 2015 @10:29AM (#9347754)
Getting kids to brush better can be fun and this product seems to hit that point very well. However, from my experience as a parent of an 8yo, phones and tablets around a basin of water for too long spells disaster. I don't want a product that would require me to hover over my kid while he's brushing his teeth.
I only eat almond fed crickets.
I guess that's one plus to living in AR. :)
It doesn't matter if you disagree or not, it IS illegal.

I turn a small profit by buying broken dirtbikes and fixing them to sell. Working on a machine with my hands and not a keyboard is therapeutic.
Re:Ask HN: Why are you off Facebook? on Thursday March 26, 2015 @11:18AM (#9270235)
I hardly use it to keep up with friends anymore. I only find myself on facebook when I'm taking a shit.
Our colo will unbox and rack new servers that we have shipped to them. They will also configure remote access (usually DRAC) for us. It just costs a one time fee to do it.
