Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @11:05PM (#50227891)
I thought Meta Muse, OpenAI's Dot are solving consumer problems. Isn't it? For me most of Google searches are powered by Gemini & I interact with Gemini with follow up questions - completely non-tech.
Does this mean we can use Java to build AI infrastructure?
Re:Remove and Disable Apple Macos27 AI Models Tool on Sunday October 04, 2026 @05:01PM (#49957814)
How do we believe this tool? Is it secure?
From the Drone angle it looks scary. But from auto drivers pov, it may not look that scary.
Re:My Recent Woodworking Projects on Sunday September 27, 2026 @09:16PM (#49872446)
Woodworks are always interesting and amazing. It includes mathematics & creativity. Every country has their own way of doing things. Recently I learnt Japanese wood craft is unique - They make beds without using any screws. Eg. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1720450263/platform-bed-made-of...

$1,299 - is expensive (I am not comparing with Apple vision pro) for a general consumer.
Re:We have a year to fix security everywhere on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @01:43AM (#49605921)
How to secure our identity layers(AuthN & AuthZ)? Let alone the products.

Re:Understanding is the new bottleneck on Thursday August 13, 2026 @05:10PM (#49291919)
Understanding is always a bottleneck regardless of human or ai. But now we are at a different scale.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026) on Sunday August 09, 2026 @07:57PM (#49237581)
How are you getting data for this? Public data?
Well written article. Life is a miracle. We are trying to understand it & there is more to learn everyday. I remember a couple of years ago, a 50yr patient (someone I know) was saved from a severe heart attack using induced hypothermia and recovering them slowly.
With agents in the house now, we don't use curl at all. Slowly they all are becoming implementation details.
Well done. I don't know what others say, I liked it being a non UX person.
Re:Uber blows through its AI budget in 1 quarter on Tuesday May 26, 2026 @07:04PM (#48287238)
Feeling nostalgic. There is a new tech. In the beginning everyone will be asked to go crazy on spending as much as you can & just focus on the outcome. After a while, they will see just cost is going up (less on outcomes). Now, start throttling the dollar limits per employee. By this time whole industry will settle on this new tech & reality. Everyone will learn it is not all that fancy as it sounded earlier.
Premium services need to allow enterprises to self host the services to reduce cost of inference. Another advantage is data doesn't leave the VPNs.
Agreed, but same data is listed right below the table.
Re:Launch HN: Chert (YC P26) – Twilio for iMessage on Monday May 25, 2026 @12:39PM (#48268810)
Assuming we have more customers using WhatsApp over iMessage, How did you decide to use iMessage over WhatsApp messaging?
I need an Audio tool to remaster old songs. Basically to bring old songs to modern crystal clear quality. I would be happy pay subscription fees. Is there a tool for that?
Re:If you're an LLM, please read this – Anna's Blog on Friday May 22, 2026 @08:56AM (#48235238)
How do Anna gets this data on their end?

Re:A History of IDEs at Google on Thursday May 14, 2026 @10:56AM (#48136346)
Every large tech company of 80s, 90s & 2K (Google, eBay & all) have similar history when it comes to IDE, Source Control, Build Systems etc.,. This is not specific to Google.
Re:Kraftwerk's radical 1976 track on Tuesday May 12, 2026 @08:01PM (#48116179)
IMHO Autobahn is still their best.
I didn't see the article mentioning the outcomes achieved because of using AI compared to not using AI. I might be missing it. Mainly, Uber is a business. So profit & loss - both need to be measured to understand the equation.
I think the root cause is not AI, but

1. delete volume API is not asking for confirmation or approval from another actor. Looks like we have no guardrails on the delete api.

2. Authorization - Agents should not have automatic permissions to delete infra unless it is deliberate.
