“Kids these days” are lazy and entitled. Can’t blame them; they grew up with a screen in front of their face all the time. Their attention span is limited and their critical thinking skills are lacking. However, even with these major disadvantages, I still believe a young’n could make a great living if they just put their head dow, gain a skill, become knowledgeable (no short cuts) and then try hard. Great recipe but most don’t want to actually do work.
Sounds like a lot of heavy lifting for something that is maybe slightly better than spell checking 25 years ago.
I’ve always hated Ubuntu. I simply don’t understand the pitch as to why someone would use Ubuntu over just good ol fashion Debian. Better yet: FreeBSD.
It absolutely is related. People in this thread are alright abusing DEA agents who are willingly doing work that they are instructed to do from their employer while the big tech employees are doing what their evil employer instructs them to do. If DEA is bad therefore DEA agents are bad. If big tech is bad therefore big tech employees are bad.
Keyword being IF. There are plenty of people that think DEA is good and I bet there are plenty of people who think big tech is good. Point being is that plenty of bad is happening all over the place by employees following instructions.
Of course Amazon is telling their teams to use AI; they are heavily invested in it not being a flop. More token usage metric for the hyper scalers means more traction and usage irrespective of revenue.
What about all the employees of Meta, Alphabet, etc that have systematically destroyed the attention span and lives of billions?
I’ve never used iCloud. I hate Apple but I hate Google more. Instead of iCloud I use WebDav, CalDav, Bitwarden and NextCloud. Contacts, calendar, passwords and photos that I control. I recommend the same to others but I can count on one hand who has actually gone away from iCloud into such a setup.
I didn't use the email in question in any hotel or web forms. I never used it while in Germany.
I've never received a spam email in German in my entire life. This spam email actually looks to be a legitimate email as after translating it the contents were basically to verify the email address. I don't think I've ever received an email in another language in my entire life and certainly not while I've been at Fastmail (10+ years).
OP here: for clarification I have "email addresses" which are <whatever>@fastmail.com (or whatever other domains fastmail offers). I then use the word "alias" for the on-the-fly alias such as
[email protected] where the real email address is
[email protected]. To be clear, the email I received in German was sent to the
[email protected] (an actual email address, not an on the fly alias). The connection to Germany is that the email seems legitimate to some degree (it was to verify the email address) but it was in German and received within a week after visiting Germany. The email address was not used while in Germany and has never been put into a web form.
OP here. I only sent 3 emails from this very specific @fastmail.com email address in the past and it was way back in 2017. The email in question has never received email with the exception of this weird email in German language within a week of visiting Germany.

I am an American who recently visited Europe for a vacation. I visited several countries and ended the trip in Germany. Within a week of getting back home I received an email that was in German to an email address that I have never used in a web form and have only used a few times for emailing someone (back in 2017). The email address has received zero inbound emails except for this one.This...
