Whenever I have time, I write opensource on github: I currently maintain popular Ruby gems such as carrierwave and minimagick. I have made my own which is memcached-manager and I'm almost finishing a memcached binary protocol client in elixir(memcachedx).
What I'm looking in a company:
Sorry for the expression, but I'm willing to shove shit for your company in order to work and live abroad. I'm very interested in moving to the US, Canada or Europe.
I code since I was 10. I'm a very all around software engineer and currently work for one of the major media companies here in Brazil. I deal daily with mid-large scale issues and develop a inhouse CMS(in Rails) that powers the R7.com website and A LOT of webservices in node.js and sinatra.
I've worked in my past for Rocket Internet in a taxi app and as a lead engineer for a Square clone called Payleven.
I _promise_ I'll deliver very good software for your company. I accept tests that involve doing remote work or anything, feel free to talk with me about anything.I don't mind even to pay you a plus if you get me a good job or have a lunch with you every 6 months to talk with you what's new because for me that's a big endeavor which I can't seen to reach.
Most of recruiters I've seen are only interested in doing the obvious: find candidates inside their home country and there's plenty of recruiters like this. I think that a recruiter that specializes into recruiting people from overseas(and with success) is going to be of value to any company and with a unmatched differential.
I have a lot of experience with ruby/rails(have maintained good gems and all that jazz) but I work for a major media company, currently in high scale apps, here in my country and I make about ~$30h/hour.
Does anybody that is in around ~$50/100 hourly rate want to get me aboard freelancing? I would gadly share some of my rate.
Cheers
So, I know most of you guys hate MBA programs, but I feel that there's quite a bit business guys here that did it or intend do apply for it and I do have a question. So here's the deal. I've studied in Brazil in a college that's famous for not inflating GPA and only about 20% of students who start CS end up finishing it(most of them quit and go study somewhere else easier), given that, I have...
I only wish I had my grass that green.
I think you are doing fine sir, just stop comparing yourself to others. If you are unhappy -- change jobs. But don't be a slave to other people opinions about how much money you should be making or your job. You'll always be unhappy that way.
I use the simple strategy of (1 - my_age)% in the stock market and the rest in fixed income funds(or less risky investments, including some hedge in gold and dolar due the fact that I live in the third world and currency fluctuations happen frequently).
It's funny because even though I work with software development, I don't have much interest about internet companies(read FB, TW and so on). The other sectors in the industry are less of a gamble and I like that.
I've taken different amounts of dosage of piracetam. From very small dosages to high. I frequently had headaches with high dosages which were fixed whenever I took choline with it.
It was for over 2 years so I've probably played as much as I could with it's dosage and the usage of choline with it, but I didn't feel any difference.
It's not like ritalin where it makes u go mad focused and stuff.

The success of the product is way more related to it's market fit, timing and business related things.
Many of the big software products today started out with very messy code. Check facebook old source code as an example.
Tell them you have some personal issues and need to leave ASAP.
They also probably had personal issues in their life(who haven't?) and it would be a very stupid reaction to your boss act mad or something like this. Remember this. IF there's any bad reaction from him, ignore and move on. It's not your fault. Don't let them make you think it's your fault.
After you talk with him about it, go eat a cheeseburger or something. It's just life.
Get money in your american bank with a way lower rate and buy it. Beware that if the Real(brazilian currency) loses much of it's value(against your dollar) you would lose money proportionally to it.
But it's a reasonable investment as long as you diversify. There are many respectable US funds that do it.
