Re:Ask HN: Share your personal site on Thursday April 07, 2022 @06:07AM (#30942625)
I have made this small tool which coverts simple text to full database script with foreign keys, there are some limitations thought, its main purpose is to shorten time spend on remembering syntax and creating database. Currently MSSQL , MySQL and PostgreSQL are supported.

Thanks that you like it.

> Part of the website is a screenshot of text rather than actual text for seemingly no reason?

I shall fix it.

> The examples aren't raw text and include HTML list elements which makes copy and pasting them awkward.

I made it in list form ,so users can understand that which symbols are table/column names. I can provide copy button on samples.

>The rest of the website really needs to be run through a grammar checker and proofread.

Sorry, English is not my native, but I shall try to proofread

>The output of the tool is hard to read and poorly formatted.

I shall add space between lines, you can also stretch the text area, based on your requirement.

I hope that you make more than your salary, how did you attract users to website? Its very hard to get users to visit your site.

I have posted my site (https://text2db.com/) on hackernews, product hunt and reddit for getting reviews but got very few views (guess the idea is bad?), please do recommend me tips on how to increase traffic for site.

Thanks.

I know its off topic, but I created a tool which converts simple text to PostgreSQL tables with foreign key relation ships, It reduces time to create database structure

Re:Ask HN: What's your learning strategy? on Monday February 14, 2022 @06:43AM (#30330875)
The best way to learn is by doing.

I needed to learn javascript, So I created a web app https://text2db.com/ , which coverts simple text to database script. It took 3 months to make it. A long time but I learned alot.

Re:Ask HN: Tools to visualize data in SQL databases? on Monday February 14, 2022 @06:38AM (#30330842)
Maybe a bit off topic, but I created a simple tool which converts text to database scripts, it reduces time to create database tables and foreign key relationships, currently, MySQL, PostgreSql and MSSQL are supported

Re:Convert Simple text to database script on Thursday February 10, 2022 @12:16PM (#30289342)
Hi, I'm the creator of https://text2db.com/ , I have build this tiny tool to quickly create database script without any extra knowledge of script format.

This is my first project to help new learners/developers to quickly create database script using predefined symbols, only varchar an int datatypes are supported for now.

I want other people to save time creating databases.

This website is still in progress, for now only MYSQL,PostgresSQL and MSSQL are supported.

Thanks for reading this, Feel free to ask any questions/give opinions here

Also I am looking for tips on how to improve it further.

A bit off topic, but you can convert simple text to database script here (PostgreSQL also supported):

Re:Thin PostgreSQL Clones on Wednesday January 26, 2022 @12:58AM (#30082291)
Thanks for reviewing it.

>How do you specify data types for columns or schema names for tables?

For now, to keep it simple, all datatypes will be created as varchar and foreign keys as int, to declare any other column as int, need to write id keyword anywhere in name when defining syntax.
> For modern Postgres versions it's also recommended to use standard compliant identity columns rather than the proprietary serial "types"

I have ran it in Postgres version 14 using psql(shell) and it is working fine, but I shall look into it.

Thanks for reviewing it Thanks

A little off topic, but I have created many databases by writing and converting simple text to database scripts

Re:Poll: What does “Full Stack” mean? on Thursday January 06, 2022 @05:14AM (#29821682)
Full stack simply means that company do not want to hire separate resources for front end and backend , so 1 salary for 2 works.
Re:Show HN: Clone your voice and speak a foreign language on Thursday January 06, 2022 @05:03AM (#29821575)
