Why can’t I sit in my car and ask about things I’m interested in and have Wikipedia articles read to me?Does this exist?
There’s plenty of lightweight minimal web servers with minimal dependencies.
But hang on is dependency anxiety really the reason or did you just make that up?
The thing I love most about caddy is it automatically does all the ssl certificate garbage which is so painful in every other web server ever. Yes certbot makes it less painful but it’s still a big PITA, unlike caddy where SSL is just like magic.
Interesting but why? There’s a bazillion web servers out there, surely one of them can do the job?
What have I missed?
Always a risk when you build your product on top of someone else’s.
Solid proof required to believe this extraordinary claim.
9.8 out of 10?
What’s the .2 represent?
This article made no sense. The example were unrelated to the thesis being put forward. It had nothing to do with making a killer product.
Not directly related, but I tried Amazons ARM based ec2 instances. The servers randomly hung.
A year or two later I tried again - the servers randomly hung.
I went back to Intel CPUs.

This is a very strange justification for having an obnoxiously loud vehicle.
If you want to be seen wearing bright leds.
Microsoft shut off their documentation in favor of MDN.
With all the uncountable billions of dollars in the banks of Apple, Microsoft, Google etc, none of them can manage to come up with documentation to compete with MDN which has to go freemium to be viable.
Presumably that’s because they can’t link your identity to it or something, making it nit worthwhile doing.
Apple: “we’re a hardware company, it’s not our job to document the web”
Microsoft: “Internet Explorer failed, it’s not our job to document the web”
Google : “we’re a advertising company, it’s not our job to document the web”.
Facebook... etc
Amazon ... etc
And so on ...
I once got a credit card statement that told me I would be able to pay off my credit card in 100,000 years.
It was discouraging.
“Cigarette companies allow smokers to choose not to smoke cigarettes”
Klarna says they are “experiencing technical disturbances due to technical errors”.
Sounds like a poltergeist.
After using controversy and discussion as his key competitive and marketing weapons, he’s now switched off comments in his tweets.
No commenting on certain topics in the Basecamp workplace, nor on Twitter, it seems.

UFOs ..... universally, always, without exception pictured by grainy out of focus long distance cameras. That’s the real phenomenon, in a world full of high resolution superb optical equipment. Never ever once imaged clearly and never once imaged up close.
Basecamp will be sold within a year.

The esp32 would have been a good graphics controller and would have been very cheap and simple. It would have provide VGA NTSC, PAL and wifi.
The fpga graphics controller seems like overkill to me.
For the lay person, what is the advantage of ocaml over other languages?
Why would I reach for it?

What is the state of the art in smell based computing? What are some possible use cases for highly sensitive smell based detectors?
This feels like a somewhat disingenuous promotion for the remote hunt website. Is it real or not?
Because when you’re young, your feelings control you. So you end up doing and saying things that don’t actually serve your own interests, or those of people around you. Also because when you’re young you don’t yet know that certain displays of, or acting out of, impulsive emotions, isn’t acceptable in our society.
So over time, to stop fucking your own life up, your progressively learn to say less, to hold your tongue, to decide later, to consider things from the perspective of others, to reserve and hold back. To give things time and think before acting or talking. To give people the benefit of the doubt. You earn that things are likely to change so there’s less reason to respond in an extreme manner to right now.
You learn that you’re not as important as you think you were when you were younger.
This is why you are better to work for small companies. Big companies simply cannot afford to treat people as individuals when it comes to terms of employment... it’s just not practical to negotiate individual deals. Big companies must implement standard processes for things like this.
And if you run a small company, this is how you beat the big companies to the best talent... negotiate deals that suit the individual employees.
The moment a company says the word “percentile” when talking about salaries, you know they’ve become “a big company”.
That’s one of the most surprising and unwelcome parts of getting older .... being tired.
It’s started at about 51 years old. Going to bed early, feeling so tired at the end of the day, seeing 9pm as “late”.
Not having the energy of earlier days.
I’m otherwise healthy but so damn tired all the time.
