Ok most of the later ones are the usual suspects :-) ... and not so much "hardly existed last year".

Despite MtGox not being online, bitcoin trading has never been shutdown:
http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/Trading volume has been down a bit, especially just after MtGox closed, but it has not been illiquid.
It is probably not of the greatest interest to hn users, but banks, afaik , report - but not to the public, where I live (except for creditcard leaks).
Wouldn't a major leak potentially create a bank run?

As long as Denmark has a growing "Danish People's Party" (3rd largest at 13.8%) in a government supporting role, with the one-trick pony voter's appeal of immigration (thus they have to tighten and tighten it), I have 3 advices for anyone contemplating Denmark:
1) Do not move to Denmark or start a company in Denmark
2) Do not get an education in Denmark
3) Do not fall in love with a Dane (if you are a non-EU citizen)
Danish educational institutions and companies go to a great extent to convince their surroundings, that they are international & business oriented, but the matter of fact is that this is not supported by the parliament. It is as simple as that. So don't get lured by their marketing. Stay out.
Really, the highest earning "occupations" (or most prestigious) change as time goes:
- in the 1800s many smart people became authors or poets.
- in the 1950 many became physicists
- around 2000, many became entrepreneurs (or even venture capitalists)
Purely macro-economic reasons can dictate, that sometimes it is best to be an entrepreneur (say, in times of "under-investment"), sometimes a consultant and yet again, sometimes an employee (in times of "over-investment" in a sector)
Here is another reason to write your passwords down:
At my workplace there was a programmer. One day he had a heart attack, and was put into a 3 week artifiscal coma.
When he woke again, he could not remember any passwords.
Everything was a pain. To this day, his website ends the day, he had the attack.
I am not sure I agree so much with the presentation, but the mocking of the "Stanford alumnus experienced exec" is worth it for the smile.

I edited Zed Shaw out of the title.
The program was first born has "Playlist DJ" for Nokia, but didn't get to be a success until it was reborn as an Iphone app called "moodagent" in December.
300k iPhone users downloaded in 3 weeks and about 400k Nokia users. The daily rate is about 20k dl.
The founders think they'll reach 10mio before 2010 ends.
Their business model is this : about 3$/user/year in ad income shown in a small window in the application. Besides founders Peter Berg Steffensen and Mikael Henderson the investors include the it-investor Morten Lund.
(if you can read the gibberish called Danish , the source is here : http://epn.dk/teknologi2/tele/article1945005.ece )

"To put this into better context, the total current population of Europe and the United States is estimated to be 831m and 308m respectively." ? Say what ?
EU is maybe 450-500m - you can't accuse the EU of doing bad things in countries outside the EU.
You have to succeed.
From the moment you're born, odds are stacked against you, chances of getting born in a industrialized country is 20%, of being intelligent enough to read (or care about) this is <1%, to not fail education it's 80%, to get hired somewhere is 0.3-3% (per application), to not get fired or be unemployed is 80%... To not toil at a J.O.B. = Just Over Broke is 40% and so on...
And your startup isn't just some bakery store or corner drug-store as is also included in some government statistics.
So go ahead and succeed!
good 2nd calls, except 6) ... 1987 was a bit technical actually, while we had 1998 (asia), 2000-2001 (dotcom/tech), and with those US twin decifits (currency/government) still out of whack, it won't take long for the next one. We only patched things very superficially.

Did you ever pick up a (personality) trait or habit from a co-worker, although you didnt want to ?
Did you ever have trouble understanding how a policeman ignores obvious insults and stays cool ?
Feelings are catchy like the flu, but remember you are a part of the equation too. If you treat a desperate customer with calm and being realistic, or colleagues with humor and a relaxed mood, they might catch it too.
So there is a starter strategy, although it might take patience.
