Re:Aristotle quotes on virtue, knowledge, and happiness on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @10:44AM (#49183737)
The first quote is not even a quote from Aristotle but from Will Durant’s book, The Story of Philosophy (1926)

How would one get around this if they found themselves in such a situation?
What about for things like moving objects? I’ve used the AD pluto system but looking for something more affordable
This is the first thing I thought too, the name confused me with the company and brand Vocera, I thought it was from them.
Re:Reverse Engineering iOS 18 Inactivity Reboot on Sunday November 17, 2024 @08:13PM (#42168816)
You can do this yourself with Shortcuts app.

Create a timer function to run a shutdown on a time interval you order. Change shutdown to "restart".

Re:Introducing Structured Outputs in the API on Tuesday August 06, 2024 @04:11PM (#41174814)
How can we enable the text reply with a function call? Usually the message returned is a tool call only when it calls a tool?
Re:Taking Risk – Startups in UK vs. US on Tuesday May 21, 2024 @05:14AM (#40425946)
I live in Munich, totally agree.
I have preview access to devin, and I can tell you that it's the real deal. It's making PRs to our codebase daily, and acts as a junior engineer.

It frees us up from doing menial tasks and is a great help for stuff like that.

It's not perfect, but it's a glimpse of the future that definitely needs to be noticed.

I am curious on this. can you share more?
If it's only compliance then, why not go with the other vendors like Vanta etc?
Interesting, haven't heard of this. Always figured aws and gcp were ahead of azure in terms of Healthcare
Re:The killer app of Gemini Pro 1.5 is video on Wednesday February 21, 2024 @03:20PM (#39458947)
The real frustrating thing about this is how Gemini 1.5 is a marketing ploy only.

Not even 1.0 Ultra is available in the GCP API. only for their "allowlist" clients.

Re:LlamaCloud and LlamaParse on Tuesday February 20, 2024 @03:52PM (#39446745)
LlamaParse looks nice. Is there way to return page numbers also with the markdown? This is important for our use case.
Re:Our next-generation model: Gemini 1.5 on Thursday February 15, 2024 @12:12PM (#39385253)
Gemini is named that way because of the collaboration between Google brain and deep mind
Re:Our next-generation model: Gemini 1.5 on Thursday February 15, 2024 @11:27AM (#39384693)
Does anyone actually have access to Ultra yet? It's a lame blog post where it says "it's available!" but the fine print says "by whitelist".

Ok, whatever that means.

OpenAI at least releases it all at once, to everyone.

Re:YC: Requests for Startups on Thursday February 15, 2024 @02:39AM (#39380095)
The primary requirement outside of the necessary JS skills would be a security clearance I assume, correct?
Re:Pushing ChatGPT's Structured Data Support to Its Limits on Wednesday December 27, 2023 @04:24PM (#38786930)
Do you have any examples of this? Curious how this looks in practice. We are just adding function calling ourselves but not sure how add CoT
Re:Ask HN: Favorite Podcast Episodes of 2023? on Wednesday December 27, 2023 @12:43PM (#38784379)
A great episode, but not released in 2023
Re:Fireworks: Function Calling Model and API on Thursday December 21, 2023 @04:59AM (#38718710)
This blog post is literally unable to be read due to the medium spam that blocks you from reading the moment the page loads. I have no idea why people use medium still
This makes me worried that you will only see news that is paid for in ChatGPT now.
Re:Gemini: Google's most capable AI model yet on Wednesday December 06, 2023 @10:32AM (#38545155)
This also jumped out at me. It also seems that they are selectively choosing different promoting strategies too, one lists "CoT@32".

Makes it seem like they really needed to get creative to have it beat GPT4. Not a good sign imho
