Re:OBS Studio 32.1.0 Beta 1 available on Thursday January 15, 2026 @12:39PM (#46636226)
Agreed! I tried to make OBS work for a video podcast, and it was a very unpleasant experience. vMix has great features: built-in remote callers, audio buses, MIDI controller support, titles; just to name a few that I use.

I love and use free software a lot, but vMix blows OBS out of the water for semi-professional video productions.

> my 7-year-old son just started half that dose

This is horrifying.

How much should he make?
vMix, a popular live video production/streaming software, is based in Australia.

Re:Ask HN: How did yall meet your SO? on Monday February 05, 2024 @02:27PM (#39265788)
I met my wife at Church. I asked her out after the evening service and three weeks later we were married!

At the bottom of the list you will find a "Paid options" section. The author says they personally have had a good experience with DeleteMe and Kanary.
I use Zen on a newer Thinkpad T14, but I feel there is a difference. Applications like Firefox and Intellij feel snappier than with the standard Kernel.
Re:Show HN: Bridge Audio Between Mumble and Discord on Tuesday December 28, 2021 @03:31PM (#29717735)
I am the author of the Mumble library[1] used in OP's project. I've also contributed directly to the Mumble project a bit in the past.

It has been several years since I shut down my personal Mumble server. One of the reasons being that lots of my friends were using Discord and found opening Mumble an annoyance (being connected to multiple Mumble servers at once is not well supported, but being in multiple Discord "servers" is very common). The Mumble client also had a poor UX.

It would be great if Mumble had a web interface, support for multiple servers, and a better text chat interface, but I think it's too little too late to convince regular users to use Mumble.

There is no real point in posting this now: you needed to sign up as a developer back in September in order to purchase this:

Re:MikroTik RouterOS v7 stable released on Tuesday December 07, 2021 @11:13AM (#29474191)
I have been using the Wireguard support in the beta release for most of this past year. Having a persistent connection from my Android phone and my wife's iPhone was simple with the built-in Mikrotik DDNS service. It makes checking on things like security cameras nice if you do not want to use a cloud service.
Re:How Long Can We Live? on Monday May 03, 2021 @04:06PM (#27030005)
I do not believe her age is correct; the Bible states that man's maximum lifespan is now 120:

> Genesis 6:3

> And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Re:Ask HN: Chrome browser phones home, how to disable this? on Sunday December 06, 2015 @10:46AM (#10685499)
There are a set of privacy related patches for Chromium called inox (https://github.com/gcarq/inox-patchset).

If you are on Arch Linux, binaries are available on the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/inox-bin

Re:The result of pinging all the Internet IP addresses on Thursday February 07, 2013 @07:04PM (#5185357)
This reminds me of a research project that was done at my university a few years back[1], except they were specifically scanning for web servers. Out of the 3,690,921,984 addresses they scanned, 18,560,257 had web servers running on port 80[2].

I'm not sure why the article is saying this video is now on YouTube. The video pages says it was uploaded in 2009.

I just typed in the address listed on the sample image and, due to the contrast between the text and the image, mistook it as "gly.im". Did anyone else notice this?
Re:Ask HN: music for hackers? on Friday May 18, 2012 @05:17PM (#3994048)
I've been recently listening to and enjoying Digitally Imported's Ambient channel. Not a lot of distracting lyrics in their songs, and usually very calming.

There is a relatively new (a month old) FAQ section named What Stack Overflow is Not[1]. I believe lots of new and old questions are being closed and deleted based on this list.

For your example, a "what is best..." question would be closed under "Stack Overflow is not a Recommendation Engine".
