this is not mine but i found it an interesting take for nerds.

Show HN: I reviewed 271 event tech tools and turned the data into a visual story

https://youreventkit.com/event-tech-wrapped/

I run YourEventKit, an independent directory of event technology tools.Over the past few months I collected and enriched 271 tool profiles with structured data, and once that was done, I wanted to do something fun with it.So event tech wrapped is the result of my fun curiosity while playing with the dataset. Its a scoll-driven data story where one SVG constellation of 271 dots morph through 10...

i like the name "BeatCode", maybe share an anecdote or two.

where are you learning these new things from, is there something that you can share with all of us ?

so what have has sparked your interest so far in python3 webstack ecommerce ?
may i ask how's your passion really kicking that off ?
Is it just me or somehow our day to day does not seem that changed at all and yet as humanity we all are leaping forward exponentially with our inventions.
dare i ask: how's it going ?
When I was a kid, we had radio machine in our house and we used to listen to some live music during those blackout hours. A really fun moment lost to time now but never really got back into personal radio use ever since.

Ask HN: Comment here about whatever you're passionate about at the moment

Hello there,I have stumbled upon many of the best internet nuggets during these open-ended questions and HN communities feels like one of those spaces where a lot has been going on but not a lot of sharing sometimes.Every once in a while I struggle with my own passion, likes or interest and in those times I try to look outwards and thus I am here.Anyway, I hope you are having a great...

I used to do this with small windows applications earning some couple of hundreds but it always stayed as a hobby because of how it was such an unpredictable variable in my life.

I have now shifted my attention to my new product, finding a balance between one time payment and recurring payment by providing option to buy an item with “unlimited edits and yours forever” with a one time payment while still having other items to upsell to the same customer.

The release went all right, and as expected. Hopefully if the numbers are good, I might share some insights otherwise keep on.

Yes, these were fun too. You know somebody should take these and add mouse position as the event trigger for eye movement, that would probably turn it into a nice creepy version of the Simpsons.

Runs fine for me on my mac devices, even on an old iPhone.

The fun part about this "exercise" is that the final graphic is usually created just by iterating and eye balling your mistakes. I remember the most I did back then was to create a Snowman and it took me more than 1 hr.

Adequately put. I am gonna use your explanation from now on whenever somebody wants to know why this exists.

This seems like an interesting exercise for css. I saw on the repo that you are using Perlin Noise, but I could not find the algo. Mind sharing where you used it and how ?

This is what HN is for, curiosity and discussions !
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @01:30PM (#40250126)
This was fun to play with and you even had some Physics equations in there.
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @01:23PM (#40250030)
Oh never noticed this one, I probably would try to mimic this in a simpler environment over the weekend, maybe a ball rolling over the street or spaceship flying over earth !
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @01:20PM (#40250000)
an interesting read for sure.
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @01:36AM (#40244429)
It seems like you have nothing to discuss regarding the original link and it's obvious from other comments that people still find this interesting contradicting your whole point.
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @01:12AM (#40244289)
Well thats a fun experiment. If you ever find the link, do share it, would love to tinker around and see what's exactly going on in there.

These are fun little CSS Art and I agree this might have become a niche topic but that does not mean it's lost. These little graphics in the early days is what pulled me towards learning CSS even better and I hope discussing this now, today, would help new web developers get excited for CSS as it did for me back then.
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @12:52AM (#40244172)
Basically each graphic is a single `div` element and everything else comes from CSS. Early days of codepen were also used to be filled with these kind of fun little CSS Art.
Re:A Single Div on Friday May 03, 2024 @12:45AM (#40244135)
I agree that there is novelty in doing CSS Art but due to the fact that it requires a lot of deep dive into nitty gritty-ness of css, devs usually don't prefer it whereas three.js is being pushed from niche 3D artist coder community to mainstream and that might just be a good thing.

Saying all that, three.js is not a perfect solution to everything and should be considered with it's pros and cons without creating unnecessary bloated websites.

I usually follow Inigo's work but somehow i missed this one. Thanks for sharing this.
Re:A Single Div on Thursday May 02, 2024 @11:10PM (#40243645)
Sometimes I just wish, I could sit down and just recreate these little pieces one by one
Re:A Single Div on Thursday May 02, 2024 @11:08PM (#40243629)
I agree some things should not become spam but once in a while a fresh conversation is what we all need for the things that we like !
