Ask HN: Best resources to learn about engineering challenge of a marketplace

As title, I plan to build a marketplace startup 6 months down the road as an engineer lead. I would like to get a head start on learning about different engineering systems and U.S. regulations in this space. Do you recommend any books or resources on this topic?A few unknown stuff comes to mind: merchant of record, payment system, modeling your product catalogs, reconciliation etc.

This is a really nice writeup. Thank you for this. I am looking into learning more about this space and debating between a voice service like Agora / Tokbox vs rolling my own to learn. I would love to see a technical blog post on your stack!

If someone sets out to build a Goodreads competitor, what's everyone's suggestion on how to aggregate book / ISBN / poster reference data? Google Books API comes to mind but I am wondering if there is a self-hosted solution.

thanks for the link. I long for the day where I can single click and have Flask/ReactJS boilerplate setup with functional public www and local dev environment setup. I only want to focus on business logic. Sorta like Heroku on steroid? (read: I would pay for that)
