Re:Napping characteristics and incident dementia on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:51PM (#50340690)
I wonder what unitentional napping means as well. I assume it's for example watching TV/reading a book on the sofa and falling asleep as opposed to wanting to fall asleep with a book or while watching TV.

Why does the TV ever needs to be connected to any WiFi? I'd say yank all the modems and antennas off it just to be safe.

Re:Last night an AI agent performed brain surgery on a mouse on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:09PM (#50339990)
For the mouse sake probably not as the mouse will not be freed and no longer subjected to experiments. From the perspective of the success of this AI surgery it's likely important that the mouse survived.

I don't think OP is mentioning the same doctor 40 years later. They mention "such" doctor:

"ast forward to today, and 40 years later such doctor called him and said"

This will matter more when code quality starts to matter. Lately it hasn't. I hope it does at some point and LLMs could help there too if we only cared about this metric. And lastly, people need to remain the loop.

I came to think of it, LLM output is not worth to be read like human written text. It's best to just skim it and move on. The problem is when this LLM output finds its ways everywhere on the internet. Being able to skim text requires knowing the context beforehand and knowing that you're dealing with LLM generated output. If LLM output that is published was labeled as such it'd probably make us less frustrated.

Re:Tesla Semi catches fire on I-880 on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @11:56AM (#50275794)
Which fumes are worse, from EVs or diesel filers?
Yeah, we forgot information on paper it seems. Flawed as it is I like the idea though..
Fined maybe? But jailed is a bit too much. There are poor people who jump the turnstile who are not violent nor a nuisance, why make the assumption that anyone who jumps the turnstile is that bad actor you describe? I jumped the turnstile a few months ago (more like I crawled under in a frenzy like an idiot), I was running late for work, found out my card had to be refilled but there was a line at the machine and the train was approaching the station. Am I a violent criminal? If I got caught it would be fair to fine me but would you jail me?

As far as nuisance and violence on public transportation, that's a different problem that I agree it has to be dealt with. Apparently police don't do anything about it, they instead hunt for fare jumpers...

Re:Whatever Happened to Fire Escapes on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @01:50PM (#50184909)
One thing i noticed quite frequently lately: fires related to charging EV batteries. These fires are really nasty and hard to put out.
