From the cancer stick to the cancer bar? Only time will tell.

Our app is featured there, cool stuff.
Nice try, CIA.
Re:Freshjerky.com on Sunday July 05, 2009 @10:29AM (#688256)
It's like real estate. It's all in the domain name and freshjerky.com is very attractive and sought after.
Re:Ask HN: Collect payment info before 30 day trial? on Tuesday June 30, 2009 @10:50PM (#682015)
I disagree with dropping the free trial just because you have a free version.

It's always a nice gesture to let users see paid plans before any money is exchanged.

There are many reasons for this, but the most important one is letting the user test drive your software with no limitations so they can evaluate if their needs will be fulfilled.

Re:Ask HN: what unwanted domain names are you sitting on? on Thursday June 11, 2009 @06:56PM (#653816)
rylor(dot)com

tobeg(dot)com

dyles(dot)com

5 letter domain names are hard to come by nowadays...

Re:Can you trust 37signals with your password? on Saturday May 02, 2009 @12:00PM (#589952)
You're assuming the keys are the only way to get into the safe. There you go again with flawed reasoning.

What if I drill into the safe and open it in a different manner?

ANY type of security has it's weaknesses. The only way is to add layers of security to make it harder to crack.

Re:Can you trust 37signals with your password? on Saturday May 02, 2009 @11:51AM (#589943)
"If the server can decode it so can anyone who has access to the server."

Semantics.

Any type of security made by humans is breakable by humans.

Your reasoning is flawed.

Re:Can you trust 37signals with your password? on Saturday May 02, 2009 @11:48AM (#589940)
Correct, the blog post is assuming the password is stored in plain text, when he doesn't even have hard evidence about it.

Two way encryption would be an explanation to this, so I am waiting on what 37s' answer to this blog post.

It's sad people quickly come to conclusions when only hearing one side of the story.

It depends on the day. I use multiple timers to track my time, and the correlation goes like this >

The more timers I have correlates to more multi-tasking, and when I multi-task, I usually deflate quicker, so I end up losing steam at around the 6th hour. It takes some coffee to finish up the last two.

On the flip side if I'm working on one or two projects I can go 8hrs with no problems.

Re:Where did all the wealth go? To our kids. on Thursday March 19, 2009 @03:22PM (#523847)
It's hard to believe this article when some UN groups are pitching out the Dollar is the world's prime currency.

If future generations are indeed richer, the value of what they hold isn't going to be the same.

1. time based animation (vs frame based)

2. content delivery network

3. scalable video formats from HD to mobile

4. media server licensing is cheap

Re:How to scrape data from sites you can't log into on Tuesday February 24, 2009 @03:24PM (#493526)
You're still technically logging in by providing the copied cookie. I don't see any difference here.

Or say the title should be changed to "How to scrape your data from your sites that require login"

Re:Last.fm: "Techcrunch are full of shit" on Monday February 23, 2009 @11:54AM (#491784)
This makes me think about that TechCrunchee getting spit on the face...

I'd now like to get the spitter's side of the story.

Ask HN: Need help finding a post

Somebody posted a link to a presentation made by a guy who's name sounds hispanic. It dealt with the rise and fall of countries across many years in time. It also dealt with the US and Brazil being outliers in the aspect that most countries "contract" after passing their revolutionary state.I searched and searched using google site search but no dice. Does anyone remember this post?
