The games seem fun, and your beta site looks fantastic. I'm always awed and humbled by folks who have the vision & spend the time to create something like this.

Listened to all your releases, really enjoyed them! Curious to see whether/what you'll do with Bitwig, Poly Grid is insane but I personally I still prefer hardware.

Thanks for the details, sounds like a right way to do it, congrats!
How long were you building your audience before releasing the course? (I ask this with respect, building an audience is hard.)

Their Oracle compatibility is still a thing, at least commercially: https://www.enterprisedb.com/products/edb-postgres-advanced-...

What is the role/responsibility/benefit of corporate members? It's not clear from the available descriptions why a company would want to become one. Perhaps simply to support the initiative?

Which Mintzberg book(s) would you recommend?
Re:Ask HN: Any weird tips for weight loss? on Thursday March 10, 2022 @06:03AM (#30625577)
The Bring-Your-Own-VM aspect is super interesting. I'd love to have this kind of stack/app management on my own hardware. Will have to run the numbers to see if it makes financial sense.
Thanks for mentioning it, I learned something today.
Just gotta say: I was really expecting to not like this batched format but actually it seems kind of okay.
I found this series of articles from Sound On Sound to be fantastic, covers a lot of ground at reasonably technical level: https://www.soundonsound.com/series/synth-secrets
Re:Apple's Cooperation with Authoritarian Governments on Wednesday March 31, 2021 @08:40AM (#26646471)
> It is a de facto government

Say you're a US citizen. You can choose not to buy an Apple product. You cannot chose to not pay your taxes.

This is just one of many distinctions between a government and a corporation.

Re:Libreboot – Defend Richard Stallman on Wednesday March 31, 2021 @08:34AM (#26646410)
If you're introduced to one William Gates and he says "call me Bill", would you respect that?

I get that using "they/them" requires a bit more mental gymnastics, at least in languages with gendered pronouns. However it is still a grammatically correct use of the language, just one we're not used to.

I approach this from a perspective of compassion. If someone has made the (potentially difficult) decision to live with a non-gendered identity, knowing the snark and ostracism they are likely to face for doing so, they the least I can do is respect that decision by making this one trivial grammatical adjustment.

Re:Launch HN: Opstrace (YC S19) – open-source Datadog on Monday February 01, 2021 @02:25PM (#25992526)
Good to know, and thanks for confirming. I totally get that supporting all combinations can be a real challenge. I guess containerization helps, but that's becoming it's own smorgasbord of almost-compatible bits.
Re:Launch HN: Opstrace (YC S19) – open-source Datadog on Monday February 01, 2021 @02:07PM (#25992237)
This looks very promising, thank you and congrats!

Also, please don't forget about people (like me) who don't run on $MAJOR_CLOUD_PROVIDER. I'd be curious to try this e.g. on self-operated Docker w/ Minio.

Re:The Problem with Gradle on Saturday January 16, 2021 @12:55PM (#25803888)
Groovy is fantastic for quickly creating domain specific languages. I've done a bunch of them over the years for different problem domains and have yet to find another solution that yields effective custom languages that are as readable and easy to implement.
JetBrains YouTrack+TeamCity+Upsource might be an option for some folks. Hope they make a statement committing to their on-prem versions.
Re:Atlassian will stop selling Jira Server Licenses on Friday October 16, 2020 @04:55PM (#24804973)
Not just Jira, but everything. We've been running on the Atlassian suite for a decade and strongly prefer to self-host. This is, to put it mildly, very disappointing.
Whether or not I agree with your position, I'll give you mad props for sustained and well-reasoned argument.
Congrats willbrowning, this looks lovely!

I've been using Mailinator for this sort of thing but I'm finding most of their domains have been increasingly blacklisted on many lead capture forms. And their paid plan that allows custom domains is not priced for this kind of use case.

(Frankly I'm worried your pricing is too low.)

Looks like it's time to go dust off one of those domains I've been sitting on... :)
