The NFL is trying it's damned hardest to become as corrupt as FIFA
Re:FBI Harassment on Wednesday May 04, 2016 @05:19PM (#11631929)
Last I checked, the FBI doesn't patrol the streets. Unless they're, uh... harassing you.
Re:Lavabit code open sourced on Saturday April 30, 2016 @06:38PM (#11603950)
I've seen some opensource implementations of Protonmail's stuff, any comparisons?
Re:Netboot on Monday January 18, 2016 @06:09AM (#10923726)
docker?
I bought one of the Fx0 phones last month.

Sad to hear this news. I wanted to move away from Android and iOS, and saw FFOS as the only viable option.

They should've mass produced whatever the developer phone was, the Flame I think? Sell it to consumers as a flagship, supported by Mozilla devs, and community devs...

No mention of the extortion/blackmail VJ claimed to be facing from some rogue FBI agent?
Re:Kazakhstan to MitM all HTTPS traffic starting Jan 1 on Wednesday December 02, 2015 @12:51PM (#10664537)
Somewhat related would be Tor's flashproxy bridges: https://crypto.stanford.edu/flashproxy/
I can't believe they're using PayPal of all things...
Re:The Serial Swatter on Thursday November 26, 2015 @11:08AM (#10633500)
If you watch enough swattings (most are streamed via twitch.tv and wind up on youtube) you'll see they typically have a sheriff follow the obviously unarmed, unharmed, and generally confused victims around the house.
Re:Firefox OS 2.5 Developer Preview, an Experimental Android App on Thursday November 12, 2015 @06:52AM (#10552590)
I am REALLY tempted to buy a Nexus 5 just to put FirefoxOS on it. Kinda looking for a more reasonable phone though, also not sure how well it's supported.
Re:Did the FBI Pay a University to Attack Tor Users? on Wednesday November 11, 2015 @07:30PM (#10550459)
With the apparent ethical chops these CMU researchers had, they certainly chose the wrong deal.

Extorting SR2 would've made them quite a bit more than just 1 million. ;)

Re:Tor Messenger Beta: Chat Over Tor, Easily on Friday October 30, 2015 @04:15AM (#10476643)
So this is compatible with XMPP? I've been toying the idea of setting up an xmpp server and this may push me over the edge...
Could you link his posts? I'm curious, since I heard that they have some kind of contract with the school down the road from me which on the far side of Maplewood from where they are located

In the newer Ghost in the Shell series, an antagonist writes a virus that takes control of all the cars in the city, causing a massive physical/real-world denial of service.
I have always wondered what could they possibly do with all the data they amass with Tempora, until recently I read about SEAS[0]. I just imagine the UK has something similar.

Does orbot do this as well?

Don't be silly, the plane that hit the empire state building is a rinkydink fraction of the size of the planes that hit the WTCs.
Re:Cleaning an Arch Linux installation on Monday June 08, 2015 @08:27AM (#9678497)
Upgrading to a different release of Ubuntu has always broken things for me as well.

That's why I have Arch on my laptop now.

Anyone care to tl;dr this or give a comparison with bitcoin?

Most of this stuff is way over my head.

I'm about to go to bed, but I'll definitely give it a read in the morning.

I have wanted these phones for the longest goddamn time.

The LG or KDDI Fx0 was the coolest looking phone I have seen in the last 5 years. But it was unreasonably priced at nearly 400 USD

I recently stumbled across the geeksphone revolution which actually seems to be a high-end phone and at a nice pricetag of less than 200 USD.

Re:Project Fi by Google on Wednesday April 22, 2015 @03:09PM (#9422802)
Data isn't a scarce resource, bandwidth maybe, but data conservation is not (should not be) a user "incentive".

Carriers acting like data is scarce and in need of conserving are discouraging users from using their product...

Re:Project Fi by Google on Wednesday April 22, 2015 @02:57PM (#9422714)
You seem to have the word incentive confused with the word discourage.

Or it's an obnoxious euphemism.

I have an unlimited data plan on T-mobile for 30 bucks. Paying by the megabyte would discourage me from using data, not "incentivize me to use less data".

>There's no reason to block servers or VPNs or tethering. There's no reason to throttle BitTorrent or Netflix or terminate anyone's service for "excessive" usage. In fact, with pay-per-GB carriers should encourage BitTorrent use!

Thank god for net neutrality, and unlimited/unmetered data, right?

Got any suggestions?
Re:The Maker of the Trollface Meme on Tuesday April 14, 2015 @06:43AM (#9373252)
Hmm... maybe someone should tip off the Pepe frog creator.

Someone is flat-out selling remixes of that meme. (hopefully just as a joke)

Re:The FedEx Problem on Saturday March 28, 2015 @03:03PM (#9282376)
Cooooool.
I don't really understand how you're capable of looking past his incoherent rambling about the CIA actively persecuting him for his cooperation with IRAN to produce BigBang weapons and instead focusing solely on the n-word sprinkled throughout said ramblings.

Sure, out of context, Terry is completely racist. He's also helping Iran build weapons of mass destruction.

Kinda surprised nobody has brought up the whole Microsoft Ireland thing going on right now.

Maybe Apple sees Ireland as a privacy conscious data-haven.

Re:IPFS Alpha Demo – Distributed Web on Saturday February 21, 2015 @01:43AM (#9084930)
How does this compare to tahoe-lafs?

I googled and found my answers, this question has been asked quite a bit.
