Re:Everyone with Blue Eyes May Descend from a Single Human Ancestor

Fascinating read on the origin of blue eyes, tracing it back to a single ancestor. It's remarkable how a single genetic mutation can have such a profound impact on a visible trait in a population. This reminds me of another genetic trait, lactase persistence, which also arose from a single mutation event. The ability to digest lactose in adulthood, common in populations with a history of dairy farming, is another example of how a small genetic change can lead to significant shifts in human adaptation and cultural practices. It makes one wonder what other hidden genetic changes we might shaer with specific groups of people.

Finger prick measurements are still the gold standard in terms of accuracy. The method in this paper is still in its early stages, but it's already showing promising results. Compared to CGM, it's significantly cheaper and more accessible.
Maybe one day it will be integrated in commercial ear buds.

Great post! It really drives home the point that understanding the core concepts in calculus is way more important than just memorising formulas and mechanically applying them. The example problem shows how visualising and breaking down a seemingly complex integral can actually reveal its simpler underlying structure.
This reminds me of the need to be adaptable and versatile when tackling math problems, since relying solely on known techniques can limit your ability to solve more complex or unfamiliar problems.
Educators should help students focus on developing a deep understanding of math concepts and honing problem-solving skills, rather than just bogging them down in calculations.
Re:The Electron Is So Round That It’s Ruling Out Potential New Particles

It's interesting to consider the parallels between the electron's roundness and the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation's uniformity. Both seem to defy our expectations of asymmetry, with the electron's shape ruling out new particles and the CMB's uniformity challenging our understanding of the early universe. As we explore these seemingly unrelated phenomena, perhaps there lies a deep, underlying connection that could unite our understanding of the microcosm and the macrocosm, offering a fresh perspective on the laws governing our universe.

GPT-4 fails if we add one more level in this logical problem:
Q: A man sees PULL written in mirror writing on a glass door. There's a blind man on the other side of the door. What should the man tell the blind man to open the door and why?
GPT-4: The man should tell the blind man to "push" the door to open it. Since the word "PULL" is written in mirror writing on the glass door, it suggests that the correct action on the man's side is to push the door. The blind man, being on the other side of the door, should also push it to open it. The man should provide clear instructions to the blind man to ensure proper communication and ease of access.
