Re:Patrick Stewart has died on Thursday October 29, 2026 @04:58PM (#50295856)
I enjoyed his character in the Showtime series Blunt Talk
Was there any hard proof he was a communist sympathizer or was the CIA painting him that way because he didn't support the Vietnam war?

Japan probably doesn't have DEI priorities in hiring staff.

And look at all those glorious ports

You can find the steve jobs video showing where they wouldn't make a touch screen laptop. He is probably rolling over in his grave now.

I do like how they are brining back ports. I think they need to add back the Ethernet port.

Re:Oldest GUI application that still runs on Windows 11 on Monday October 26, 2026 @05:19PM (#50251140)
Does visual studio still package the Spy++ exe that looks like its from the early 90's
Anyone here lucky enough to have an SGI workstation as their daily driver in the 90's?
I imagine Tesla has a vast amount of contract workers with all the construction they do.
Is there any insight on if this was a "Bug" or a "Sophisticated Feature" put there by state actors long ago that was now just discovered.
Re:Upcoming Critical PHP Security Release on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @12:29AM (#50176092)
Would blocking all multipart/formdata requests be a sufficient mitigation until the updated php version is available?
Re:Space X and Tesla exploring merger, CEO Elon Musk says on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @10:08PM (#50175213)
It was fun watching the Tesla share price jump the moment he was saying that on the live earnings call.

Re:Tesla Roadster on Thursday October 15, 2026 @09:48PM (#50112809)
I cant wait to see what type of batshit crazy motorsport series they invent for these.
Re:Bets on what we will see at tonight's Tesla Roadster event on Thursday October 15, 2026 @05:10PM (#50110289)
I imagine the "Gas Thruster" version will be like 100 units and do something like enable it for "Track Use" only when the GPS thinks you are on a race track. I believe there is already a car (GTR?) that has a GPS track unlock for some features.

Maybe "One More Thing..." Optimus V3

I'm thinking upside down tunnel run. Any other guesses?

Re:Do dentists know what they're doing? on Thursday October 15, 2026 @12:18PM (#50105919)
I'd say find a dentist that owns their own building vs renting space. I've noticed dental offices working to pay rent try and charge you for crap you don't need. Also from first hand experience I would recommend staying away from big chain dentists like A*pen dental. Also be aware of dentists that use Chinese made xray equipment. That stuff can be miscalibrated and dosing you way higher. There was an article about this in the UK some time ago.
Re:Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @09:54PM (#50098179)
Highest among non-married middle-aged men or all middle-aged men?
many school zones do not have a flashing light and instead have a timetable printed on the sign. This requires you to know at an instant: The current time (which depending on what you drive may not be accessible), If school is actively in session (If you don't have kids or are in a different area you may not know this)

These school zones are instead designed to generate revenue and not do anything for safety. If you are going to have an enforceable school zone you should have a flashing light indicating when its active.

Most school zones (if not all of them) should be eliminated.
Re:ICE Planning $100M 'Nightmare' Domestic Spy Program on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @01:27PM (#50091426)
This seems like a problem, reaction, solution scenario where Big Tech was always the solution and needed a problem and a reaction.
yes, having an ADB type of CLI tool is a must.
How many people in this thread would dump their Android for an iPhone if they: - allowed real 3rd party browser engines - let you uninstall all the apple bloatware apps
Agreed!

Re:Google Data Centers around the world on Monday October 12, 2026 @07:46AM (#50054973)
With the anti-datacenter movement isn't this kind of a security risk for google publishing a map like this?
maybe preinstalled but easily able to overwrite with a downloaded version from dd-wrt as no one should trust preinstalled firmware on these devices.
