Hope you write some further explanation for your statement, because so far it looks like part of this c++ vs. java flame.
Re:Dashing - A dashboard framework on Wednesday March 27, 2013 @11:16AM (#5449872)
Me neither and this is somehow scary. I'd prefer just an UI kit with guidelines for integration with backend.
Re:Opera moves to WebKit on Wednesday February 13, 2013 @03:40AM (#5212043)
Yes and no. Less work for frontend guys I believe. More choice for you, because you can get the same decent looking pages (theoretically) with a different UI of the browser.

And, IMO, here is where Opera wins - their UI is superior to Chrome's and Safari's.

I'm curious too! I think Javascript in Opera was a bigger problem than HTML.

A year ago I worked on an app with heavy JS frontend and frontend guys told that they can't make it work properly on Opera.

At last. Opera used to be my favorite browser, thanks to their sophisticated UI. But I gave it up when HTML5 started coming in. I believe it had problems with Javascripts too.

Is mobile Opera very different from the desktop one? I see many Android users using it and being happy.

Re:Ruby on Rails vulnerable to mass assignment and SQL injection on Tuesday February 12, 2013 @03:42AM (#5205812)
Why do you asume that even a teenager who's learnt something about vulnerabilities of web apps, will only try to find a bug typical for i.e. Rails?

It's more likely your app will become a target when it's popular among users.

Ask HN: does Apple have any R&D center?

I always wondered if Apple has any kind of research and development center. Microsoft and Google have both big research departments where they work on programming languages, development tools, operating systems, usability, probably on hardware too. You can see them on conferences among representatives of universities. What does it look like if we talk about Apple? I am sure they spend much time...

And also ask them to respect the patterns in existing code. I see that programmers of every language or framework do some shortcuts specific to them.
