Re:Please stop disabling zoom on Friday May 06, 2022 @10:02AM (#31285200)
Not sure why this became a trend my guess is back when everyone was trying to update their website to support mobile devices, they want to deliver an 'app-like' experience and as native apps don't let you pinch zoom the native UI wherever you like and mobile sites followed suit.

I guess the issue now is it has become part of the cargo cult with people including these meta tags in their base templates without knowing what it does and failing to implement a suitable layout for all mobile device screen sizes and DPIs.

Although at the moment Starlink does not allow for roaming.

I assume its to prevent beta users from selling their kits to musketeers.

"Your Starlink is assigned to a single cell. If you move your Starlink outside of its assigned cell, a satellite will not be scheduled to serve your Starlink and you will not receive internet. This is constrained by geometry and is not arbitrary geofencing."

Re:Ask HN: How do you handle conflicts with your peers? on Sunday January 19, 2020 @06:05PM (#22094770)
First thing that comes to mind is can any of his suggestions be enforced with linting and/or CI jobs?

If so then maybe defer his changes until they are implemented in linter and/or CI job configuration preferably at a company, team or project level.

If this is something more debatable like how a feature was implemented (there are many ways to skin a cat, all of them wrong). Then I would suggest they provide their suggested changes and maybe even some BDD-style tests that would not pass given your implementation.

If they don't have the time and still insist on you doing things 'their' way, maybe inform your product owner or project manager that you are spending extra time working on this feature but it will not result in delivering any additional value to your users/customers and have the reviewer take up the discussion with them.

Re:Show HN: Angeldust – a fast and efficient video game on Sunday December 22, 2019 @04:19PM (#21859744)
Awesome were you inspired by Ace of Spades at all or have heard of it?

I remember that original voxel-based engine and web server list that launched the client using their custom URI.

It was awesome how small the game was and how fun it was the simple concept (Minecraft with guns and no floating blocks).

Using this information you could probably make a browser extension to make the website more honest.

Delved further into the cited study.

"This revealed statistically significant associations between FGF21 rs838133 and increased consumption of candy, as well as nominal associations with increased alcohol intake and daily smoking."

rs838133 is the first one in the table shown in image I linked to.

I've got a real sweet tooth and excessively eat sweet things.

I also have a 23andMe account and looked up to see if I have the FGF21 gene?

I found that I have 2 SNP's on gene FGF21.

Any idea what this means relative to the study?
