And to the "outsiders" from outside US, it should be written that 40-45 percent is taken away as taxes. So, if someone is making a total comp of 200k, it is basically 120k. This should be written in bold on this website.

Actually i would say, instead of having these charts which compare total comp, its better to have a survey on how much people save after rent, taxes, and basic living expenses (not including loans etc.)

How much stock do google employees get yearly 9n average which is liquid ?
Thats why asked - How much you earn and how much you save.

Cost of Living = Earning - tax - saving

Isnt it obvious?

From my friends who work in Bay area, I will list their details.

- Google, 3 yrs, 137k + bonus (~10k), saves 50-60k yearly

- Uber, 2 years, 125k + bonus (~10k), saves 40-50k yearly

I bet on chinese companies. Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, and others.

Ask HN: Do you think companies should pay applicants for interviewing them?

The reason I am asking this is many times companies interview candidates and give them no result. This frustrates the candidates both mentally and physically. I think there should be a contract which not only reimburses the candidate but also gives proper details about compensation, result timeline etc. What do you think?
