"It has pushed me to reconsider. The number 1 company I want to work for instead is Uber mostly because of it's astounding growth -> I'm more likely to get rich."

Ask yourself how likely ? Is it 50% or more like 1% ? I know very little about Uber, mind you.

I just wrote a buggy program, should I stop programming ? I just failed a business, should I stop being a business man ?

Obviously you should stop because it never worthwhile to spend time on what you like to do :)

Re:Ask HN: Why are start ups today raising so much money? on Wednesday March 25, 2015 @06:54AM (#9262124)
Hype (partially) is a factor. Others are : - Fear of missing out on the "next" facebook. - Investors are risk averse. They tend to flock in to deals where other investors are already in. - Disruptive market technology (with huge potential payout) -> invest a lot -> get bigger equity/ownership percentage and then make some big returns.

Re:Equity for seed funded companies on Monday March 16, 2015 @02:22AM (#9210134)
2%-5% I would say.

Serie A ? If yes, 1% equity min, more if your direct boss is the CTO/CEO.
Well, if he is also working for free, then it is "reasonable". If he is not, then why should you ? Unless the reward/risk ratio is very good for you.
Re:Ask HN: How do you escape CRUD jobs? on Wednesday December 26, 2012 @02:11AM (#4968492)

Re:Ask HN: Can't stay at a company for more than an year. on Thursday December 20, 2012 @05:16AM (#4946989)
What are you into ? What kind of gig did you do ?
Write code with it. Nothing beats hand-on experience.
Re:Ask HN: What Do You Do In The First Hour of The Day? on Thursday September 06, 2012 @02:36AM (#4483095)

Re:Ask HN: How would you simplify international money transfer? on Thursday September 06, 2012 @02:32AM (#4483083)
I believe the system should mimic the email system: - a simple unique identifier. Eg: [email protected], [email protected] - any mail client would do - mail content (amount and currency details)

Paypal does this but: - it is fairly convoluted process now - requires Paypal software (website or app)

Right now ? 90% because I am learning a new programming language.
Re:Little development time vs perfect code? on Monday August 27, 2012 @08:08AM (#4438404)
You are right. Code optimisation should be a process rather than a task in itself.
Re:Little development time vs perfect code? on Monday August 27, 2012 @08:05AM (#4438397)
Priority list ? Good idea. I have a JIRA instance for my project with all tasks though none of them are prioritised. It might seems slightly overkill but I guess I could use it to prioritise task/issues with it.

PS: Lumberjack ? Are you the one who wrote the Cocoa Lumberjac logging API by any chance ?

Little development time vs perfect code?

I am sure I am not the only one to have this "issue".I have created some small libraries for my side projects (mainly C++ lately) but I keep spending an awful lot amount of time trying to make it look good and take into account all corner cases while I should probably just be hacking away to get something working (i.e some kind of prototype). How do you guys deal that ?
