Re:Ask HN: What are you working on (September 2024)? on Monday September 30, 2024 @04:27AM (#41694800)
I'm working on a web-based Indesign file translation system: https://indesign-translator.com/ It extracts all text, translate them (manually or with google translate, up to the user), and re-download with styles and layouts kept.

I started it as I was making a booklet about meteorology for kids in Lao language. I tried an automatic transation tool and was amazed to see it was keeping the format, so I dived into the markup file for Indesign, called IDML. InDesign is such a great software.

Ask HN: Where do you see the most value for writing code

When companies are conducting internal data projects, either to help decision making or automate processes, they require a number of technical skills, modulated by the amount of custom tools vs on-the shelf solutions that are chosen. On top of the pure software development, we see a need for more devops, databases, distributed file system knowledge, UX design, etc...My question is: where in...

What kind of systems are you developping with rust? Especially if you also do javascript? Genuinely curious as I also want to start working with some lower level languages.

I am a French independent data engineer and software developer.

I extract - transform - analyse data for big companies (L'Oréal, ...) or institutions (UCSF, ...).

I use R/PowerBI and NodeJS/C#/python.

We can start on an initial 3-day test project on a data pain point and build the relationship !

What is thrust ? I don't get it.
It's true that it seems to be a lot of work in implementation. NN have a complexity/performance ratio much higher than other algorithms. But hey ! la fin justifie les moyens, I'm quite impressed with the result and had a lot of fun with the demo and the article. Keep it up guys !
I love the idea of modules, using web tools to hack our own UX should be the standard in future softwares. Great job !
Great ! It can be used for server monitoring of course but I am thinking that it could be working with a Raspberry Pi to monitor heat in the house, or water consumption, there were an article about it recently on HN.
