Re:Last night an AI agent performed brain surgery on a mouse on Monday November 02, 2026 @11:50AM (#50339665)
Another instant classic from the series of man-made horrors almost exceeding human comprehension
It also doesn't seem to understand sarcasm

Sees this as recommendation (I think?) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24917334

No, it says it cut through an area of "tens of thousands of acres"
It makes for a good headline, but

> the cleared land which stretches more than 13km (8 miles)

Re:Two high-speed trains collide near Toledo, Spain on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @11:06AM (#50274924)
At least the people responsible for wasting about a quarter billion euros on trains that are too wide for Spains train tunnels seem to have resigned.
Re:Colorfigures on Monday October 26, 2026 @12:51PM (#50246918)
I prefer to get my supply-chain attacks through conventional package managers
I suppose blocking/censoring Facebook/WhatsApp in Brazil would be one way of making sure their opposition wins.
That seems a bit schizophrenic
Have you tried... reading the article? Under the big headline that says "Limitations", in particular
> Hopefully this will send in place a party-shutdown procedure

Let's save democracy by abolishing democracy!

Not very shocking that OpenAI wants you to use tokens
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @06:47PM (#50173740)
Gemini offers indefinite cache on API, but you pay per hour.

AFAIK, there's no evidence that Alibaba won't keep releasing more open source models. Before 3.8 there was speculation they wouldn't release the weights, but they finally did - Although I guess the largest model wasn't multi modal.

And Minmax is set to release their latest flash model on October 23rd.

So not sure where you're getting this from, unless I misunderstood something

Re:MiniMax M3.1 Flash on Monday October 19, 2026 @04:23PM (#50157575)
I have this idea that the big labs internally have much more capable models which are prohibitively expensive to run though, and the competition is mainly around getting the price down by releasing models that are quantized/otherwise made more efficient at the cost of a lot of performance.
Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Sunday October 18, 2026 @01:07PM (#50142986)
30GB a month isn't too terrible? I guess it depends - for example my provider includes 10TB egress per month, so 30gb would be negligible if it's static content. I'm not sure what others do, but I often click on the links that the agents pull up as sources so the websites do get more discoverable.

What really sucks is e.g. Gemini that pulls images without being able to go to the source (unless it changed recently.)

Edit: I didn't read "logs"

Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Sunday October 18, 2026 @01:04PM (#50142953)
I'm not sure just skipping the scraping by providing your data directly for harvesting is the solution
Re:OpenAI discloses four more rogue incidents on Saturday October 17, 2026 @02:09PM (#50133489)
You sure? HuggingFace should be happy they got their leaked keys reported at pretty much zero cost and no real adversarial breach.
Re:OpenCode 2.0 on Thursday October 15, 2026 @11:00AM (#50104685)
I recommend just setting up a podman container, LLM can do it for you.

Basically Podman is a more secure version of Docker.

I would keep stuff like secret keys outside the container and sign/push commits manually.

Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @08:03AM (#50086336)
So cheap that people who pay for pro don't get it as a coding agent in antigravity lol
I've frequently seen social media of people who were arrested disappearing. Not because the arrestee did so themselves.
His LinkedIn is still up and suggesting he still works at OAI... which I'm not so sure of
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @03:07PM (#50076968)
My Gemini app on Android does not even have an exact location permission you could give it, so I'm not sure how you think that would work?

If it had exact location access people would be crying that Gemini steals their location data.

Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @03:03PM (#50076897)
Any word on how fast it drains usage compared to openai/anthropic sub for the different tiers? I guess too early to tell?
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:13PM (#50074076)
Not available in my browser/app yet (pro), but I'm confident it'll roll out soon.

That was a long wait.

Just open the website on your phone to emit the tones
Reminder that OpenAI allows you to use the Pi Coding Agent, which is a lot more lightweight, and in my experience much better than any of the proprietary harnesses.

Shallow dismissals like this contribute nothing to the discussion.
