Ask HN: Should I still Open Source my commercial products?
Nowadays, nobody gives credits anymore on someone’s Open Source work. Everyone boasts they did it all only by themselves when they copy someone’s work, or iterate on someone else’s idea on Github.This got me thinking, should I still do open source on commercial products as people nowadays has no regards and moral values in terms of someone’s work.

A suggestion for Apple.
1. Apple is worth $2.44 trillion USD; pay off the whole $240 billion USD debt owed by the Philippines.
2. Establish Apple HQ facilities in the Philippines and employ the vast majority of the country's talented software engineers there.
3. Take advantage of the cheap labour, low costs, and high standard of living to ride the wave of unending profit.
This is how you turn things around and switch the lightbulb.
The real reason why Mirabilis ICQ become unpopular.
On the height of their popularity, they started naming their products appending either "devil" and "demon" to their products.
Of course, most people who are conservatives back then like parents, aunts, 99% of the their users, basically other than "you" the power users didn't like the new naming.
So they move-on to Yahoo Messenger and never looked back.
Moral: Don't name your popular product like how Mirabilis ICQ does it back in the late 90s.

Instead of going to the Moon, why not just create a self-sustaining vehicle that can allow humans to survive sustainably in any terrain, desert, forests, mountains, land, sea, lake or water. On soil, above or underwater.
And make it a race prize competition similar to Google Lunar X Prize Race.

Depression is nature and unescapable, you just have to bare it and build endurance to lower the threshold of the stimulus that trigger it. It needs to be running simultaneously with your other natural brain activities.
In 2011, I found a job of my dreams, but it ended in 2012, since then I began to took jobs that I'm not comfortable and I do not like just to provide for my family, it was hard and sad, and it lasted from 2012 to 2016. Now I'm happy I have a new job that I'm very comfortable with.
Depression is not new to me, I've experienced it since childhood, teenage period and throughout college. There's no OFF switch for it, the only way to turn it off is build strength and endurance for it, sooner or later it it will attack again, but it would be too weak to affect you.

You'll get into Google if you have a CS degree plus good in memorization.
memorization != understanding, I hope Google should give chance to the latter being the "time-tested proven" engineers which some can't answer "computer science trivia" because most of them don't spend time memorizing theories, they spend their time building and applying what they learned.

I don't have a bachelor's degree, Asian and already 13 years out of college, now a family man and going back to college to get my degree is not an option (since I'm working to provide for my family), is there a possibility for me to work or start a company in the US?

That is $200, then after a year you will have to pay $100 to get updates. That was not cheap, I was hoping that I can continue recieving updates for my initial purchase, since many apps which is payed only once does that.

It was previously a New York based startup that is now fully based in Singapore.
My english is fluent and compare to Singaporean english it was excellent, considering that majority of their employees are Singaporeans, they might have preferred Singlish speaking candidates.
I was not hired because I speak slowly.
I was interviewed 2 days ago for a software engineer position and though I'm very confident of my technical skills, the main reason I was rejected is that I speak slow.As far as I know, I was speaking at a reasonable pace, I was keen at answering all the questions and I elaborate my answers further so that I can express my message clearly.
