Re:User Interfaces of the Demo Scene on Wednesday July 29, 2026 @04:47AM (#49094886)
I vividly remember FastTracker II, and how intuitive and tactile it felt to get things done in it, despite the minimal user interface real estate. As an example, there were no sound effects. So, I routinely manually created echo effects by copying the sounds from one channel to another one of the available channels, offsetting the notes by a few ticks and lowering the volume. It was simpler times.
Re:The Future According to LLMs on Monday July 27, 2026 @05:48AM (#49067216)
Great idea, what I went with for the first version is admittedly too crude. I'll have a look.
Re:The Future According to LLMs on Monday July 27, 2026 @05:07AM (#49066934)
I have always found https://www.futuretimeline.net/ to be very, very, interesting in the gradual tangent to sci-fi. In the same vein, I wanted to understand how different LLMs think about the future, and where they potentially agree.
Any idea what kind of revenue this potentially brings in, assuming this is the rationale begins this decision? In contrast to tarnishing the Filezilla name (albeit this could mostly be controversial in the hn crowd)

This alongside the recent Apple car rumours makes Huyndai quite forward-leaning.
Re:Kofola, the Cold War Drink of Czechoslovakia on Thursday April 04, 2019 @12:53AM (#19569433)
In Sweden we have a similar drink called "julmust" or "påskmust" which many people go for, over international beverages, during Christmas and Easter: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julmust

Ask HN: How to bet on autonomous vehicles?

If autonomous vehicles takes off this will surely disrupt a lot of areas and change the way our cities are constructed and how we think about getting around. I know there are a lot of challenges and hurdles before this happens on a grand scale, but I am confident that we are moving in this direction. Given this, how would you bet on this today? Are there any companies, or types of companies,...

Awesome! Do you think the script supports windows as well?
Re:Spotify Form F-1 on Wednesday February 28, 2018 @04:50PM (#16487391)
If you do not mind me asking, as a fellow artist, how have you reached the point of getting this regular influx of listeners on Spotify? Through external promotion or is this solely driven by the Spotify platform and its algorithms?
Re:Ask HN: What did you work on in 2017? on Sunday December 31, 2017 @07:55PM (#16043970)
After a 10-years-or-so hiatus I finally got back at composing music, and completed 29 songs and 4 albums, this fall only: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nxDh1lPq0EclBPMNXnYa3 and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgNm_EwMyLBrKp_kmdU3XoA. Doing this in parallel to going through a divorce with three kids has been quite a ride.

Ask HN: What's the best thing(s) you shipped in 2017?

Hey - 2018 is just one day away! Show the rest of us at HN what you actually shipped in 2017 that you are super proud of! Promote shamelessly, and don't forget to include URLs!I'll go first; after a 10-years-or-so hiatus I finally got back at composing music, and completed 29 songs and 4 albums, this fall only: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4nxDh1lPq0EclBPMNXnYa3 and...

Ask HN: Music artist/band portfolio sites?

Hey there,I am finding myself more and more releasing new music through various channels (Youtube, Spotify, Google Play etc), while lacking a "hub" keeping it all together, alongside basic information regarding the music as such and integrations with social site such as Facebook etc. I envision something quite visually appealing and "themable", similar to sites presenting portfolios of...

Re:Silent 10-Minute Track Reaches Top 100 on iTunes on Tuesday August 15, 2017 @02:21PM (#15020879)
I have the very same issue, but always assumed it was my Toyota to blame. I actually ended up deleting "that" song having been through its first 10 seconds or so while desperately trying to switch over to spotify countless of times. This hack is indeed a weirdly delightful solution
Firebase, to dip my toes into the liberating world of servless development. So far, things have been quite pleasant!
We are using the geo lookup api fram maxmind, with success. Gets quite expensive though, if you are not careful
Awesome photos. I'll be visiting the US and be driving from SF to Las Vegas this weekend. Would you recommend making the detour to Carrizo to see the bloom, or am I too late to the party?
Re:FIFA 2014 World Cup live stream architecture on Monday April 27, 2015 @03:15PM (#9448523)
Working in the TV industry myself, the uninevitable question on DRM springs to mind. Was these streams encrypted as well somewhere along the described process?
Re:ITunes 11 and Colors on Tuesday December 11, 2012 @02:29PM (#4906307)
Good job "emulating" the iTunes algorithm. Request to op: It would have been good to have some sample code inline in the article that illustrated the algorithm. I know there's an Xcode project attached, but reading this on an iPad has its limitations.
