Re:Apple Card launches today for all US customers on Tuesday August 20, 2019 @08:28PM (#20753617)
There’s a “make default at Apple” button in the card settings that I was able to use to accomplish that without copy/pasting. Weird they didn’t just ask during the setup process.

tl;dr Go to http://reportaproblem.apple.com/, sign in and pick the app that you want a refund for. Then fill out the questionnaire.

Re:Ask HN: How do you reduce unsolicited phone calls? on Wednesday May 02, 2018 @01:55PM (#16979515)
If you’re on T-Mobile, dial (not text) #662#. It will turn on scam block [1] which stops all calls that T-Mobile identifies as scams from making it to your phone or voicemail.

> powered only from the HDMI port

Looking at the marketing material, it’s clear Amazon is trying to make people think this and hope they’re not disappointed when they find out that, yes, they still have to plug it into the wall.

There’s only one tiny image on the product page [1] that shows the power cord coming out. Every other image is very careful to show it from an angle that makes it seem like the HDMI cable is the only cable.

There is text that mentions the power cable, but you have to scroll down pretty far (about 60% of the way down) before you’ll see it.

They did say to not enable Face ID if you have an "evil" twin, which is pretty jokey, but probably 100% true.
I wish I had been this decisive the last time I joined a team that was a bad fit.
Re:Two-factor authentication for Apple ID on Friday April 15, 2016 @07:23PM (#11508366)
You have to turn off two-step verification first.
Re:Two-factor authentication for Apple ID on Friday April 15, 2016 @06:18PM (#11508034)
You're thinking of two-step verification [1]. I believe getting rid of the recovery key is part of the "more streamlined user experience" offered by two-factor authentication.

My mortgage has been sold at least 4 times since I got it about 3 years ago. Each time, I get a letter from the old company and the new company. Hopefully, that's what happened here.

The first two words of the article are "In 2012" and I think that carries over to the paragraph you quoted.

What are the chances Apple will pull your app if you start accessing these web services from an Android app?
You ask the membership clerk of your ward for your membership number, which you use to upgrade your familysearch.org account to an LDS account. Then ancestry.com uses OAuth to get access to your familysearch account.
You can get the subscription fee waived if you join the LDS Church.

Re:1Password 4 for Mac is here on Thursday October 03, 2013 @01:57PM (#6490672)
The website upgrade is free if you bought it this year, and it's only $24.99 if you bought it before 2013. Isn't that a little cheaper?
Re:Amazon to Provide CD Buyers With Cloud-Based MP3s For Free on Thursday January 10, 2013 @12:34PM (#5038362)
Amazon now has Cloud Player Premium[1], which is very similar to iTunes Match.

"Import your music collection - even music purchased from iTunes or ripped from CDs. All imported songs we match are instantly made available in Cloud Player and upgraded to high-quality 256 Kbps audio."

Re:AWS is down due to an electrical storm in the US on Saturday June 30, 2012 @01:09AM (#4180732)
It looks like this is affecting iTunes Match, possibly. I have two tracks just sitting there, waiting to upload and running lsof -i shows iTunes with a connection to an AWS machine.
Wild speculation: PassBook heralds NFC in the new iPhone, but since Apple doesn't want to reveal anything about new hardware at WWDC, they left out anything that would give that away.
Re:Google Blockly - a visual programming language on Thursday May 31, 2012 @05:40PM (#4050524)
When I solved it, the program just stopped running.
Re:Notch's Livestream for Ludum Dare 21 on Saturday August 20, 2011 @12:09PM (#2906922)
It looks like his changes appear in the game window without rebuilding the program. Is that what everyone else is seeing? Is this a technique I should know about?
Re:Apple posts WWDC2011 session videos on Friday June 24, 2011 @08:15AM (#2691875)
I only recently payed the $99, but I downloaded all the WWDC 2010 videos months ago.
Re:MtGox account database leaked on Sunday June 19, 2011 @08:09PM (#2672363)
I have received the following email 6 times, edited to remove referral code and Bitcoin address:

"Dear Sir or Madam,

A few hours ago the Bitcoin trading website Mt Gox has been hacked. Malicious individuals have been able to obtain a database containing usernames, email address and encrypted passwords. This information has been posted publicly on the internet.

As a Bitcoin supporter I'm now sending a message to every email address contained in the hacked database. This is to warn you that your username, email address and password have been leaked. I therefore strongly advice you to change your passwords. If you have used the same password on different websites it's highly recommended to change your password on all of your accounts!

For a more secure alternative to Mt Gox, the community appears to be moving to TradeHill. So this is no reason to lose faith in Bitcoin itself. It must be seen as a warning that not every website can be trusted with your data however! Their link is http://www.tradehill.com/?r=XXXXXXX (Note: You can remove the Referral Code when registering if you want!) This is certainly not the only website where you can exchange Bitcoins, also check out http://www.thebitcoinlist.com/dp_bitcoin/bitcoin-exchange/

Sincerely,

A Bitcoin supporter 1XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX7"

If the sender is reading this, your script works (too well), and the warning was received 2 1/2 hours after the one from Mt. Gox, so you probably should have saved yourself the trouble.

The From headers shows the email is sent from [email protected]. However, digging into the headers it is actually coming from [email protected] (trying to give the guy some privacy, since he's trying to be helpful, but this way others who get the message can correlate it).

Re:Amazon Ships Ad-Supported Kindle Early on Thursday April 28, 2011 @12:30AM (#2492149)
I wouldn't get it, but it shouldn't actually affect the reading experience:

"When you buy Kindle with Special Offers, you are getting the same bestselling Kindle for $25 less—only $114. Special offers and sponsored screensavers display on the Kindle screensaver and on the bottom of the home screen—they don't interrupt reading."

Re:AT&T to Acquire T-Mobile USA for $39 Billion on Sunday March 20, 2011 @03:39PM (#2347146)
I wonder if this means that the percentage of Android phones that can't sideload direct from the carrier is going to go up. From what I understand, T-mobile doesn't block that, but AT&T does.
