It wouldn't be the first time in history sabotage by "Russians" resulted in the collision of opposing forces near Toledo.
I cordially invite you to take a tour of Equifax's entire development floor, or any AT&T campus in the metro Atlanta area.
Don't play dumb. Cisco and others have already had to litigate intra-caste nepotism disputes between dalits and brahmin--in America--and lost.

Everyone's a lawyer now.

Anything can be anything it isn't once you start changing the language.

"When at first you don't succeed, redefine success."

> Having software build software is programming. An agent is software, a human isn't. I can draw a UML diagram, software generates code from that, and software turns it into binary.

It's not programming, it's cuckoldry. Articulating the perfect guy, inviting him over and watching him get to do all the stuff you used to enjoy literally makes you a manager.

> At least at hotels you can show up whenever you want. Stop for dinner, stop for gas, "we'll leave the light on for you."

This has bitten me in the ass. I fully prepaid for a booking via Expedia but due to plane delays arrived a few hours late (1am). By the time I got there the hotel had rented the room to someone else, had no more available, and everyone else in town was booked.

They blamed me for not checking in on time but considering there was a room available for the couple that came in after us, the real story is that there was a convention going on in town and last-minute attendees were willing to pay 10x more than I did. So they silently dropped my reservation and left me to fuck myself.

Don't count on hotels letting you check in whenever you want. Times have changed...

Re:Airbnb bans making guests do dishes and take out the trash on Thursday October 22, 2026 @01:37PM (#50198568)
Yep, the last few I tried to book came back trying to shake me down for additional deposits via third party platform.

Anytime a company pisses me off I set up a while loop to generate Luhn-compliant 16-digit numbers and spam them on every html form on the site.

PCI audits are fun for everyone

> Im not a lawyer but i believe just following orders isnt considered a valid excuse

This is sophistry that was used to condemn Nazis but has never applied to any context outside of the Nuremberg trials. Fail to follow orders and you're shot as a traitor. Follow them and you're hanged as a war criminal. "Just follow orders" is the basis of paid employment itself.

It is assumed that those giving bad orders will be held responsible for doing so, but this rarely proves to be the case. See the eBay harassment of the Steiners. Everybody involved that followed orders was punished except the executive that signed off on and provided support for the operation.

But in the Equifax breach, two executives were fired following criminal intrusion by Chinese hackers they had no involvement with. Everyone that neglected to follow orders to patch Struts probably still works there.

The rules are arbitrary.

Golden parachutes mitigate those risks. The company may tank, but they get theirs.
I assumed the target market was Steam hoarders that buy games when they're cheap but never actually play them.
> Folks, often women, stay in highly abusive relationships

There's a hundred studies that have found that women initiate most domestic violence (lesbians 2x as often, younger women 4x as often). 85 studies identified that women initiating violence is a significant predictor of risk to women (go figure). They are all suppressed or downplayed with sophistry when anyone mentions them.

Catherine Knight's husband admitted to colleagues that he knew she was going to kill him. He stayed anyway, and ended up being stewed and fed to his own children. She used his skin as a curtain for the kitchen.

Alex Skeel was put through a regimen of psychological and physical torture that one normally only hears about from survivors of Communist regimes.

If anyone stays in abusive relationships, it's men. Women are given every incentive to leave. A lot of money flows to their NGOs, propaganda campaigns and shelters, but nothing comparable exists for men.

Nothing amplifies negative emotions like antagonistic tone-policing.

Re:GLM-Legal: Advancing Agentic Legal Intelligence on Monday October 12, 2026 @01:27PM (#50059747)
An attorney I have retained from a large firm bills me $500 to send me one email update a month (minimum billable).

They are obviously AI-generated (but does not disclose such) and frequently misses or conflates key details the same way Gemma in particular does. They're also bizarrely positive when I correct them instead of pissy and arrogant like I'm used to.

Nobody should be paying these rates for legal "work" performed by a machine that poorly acts the part.

> They shouldn't assume that someone is carefully watching everything they do and judging their every word and action looking for evidence of crimes.

This is silly. Nevermind the government; you should always assume some Redditor will pore through OSINT data and leaks looking for anything they can use to dox you and wreck your personal and/or professional life.

Hanlon's Razor is the domain of fiction authors. It sounds sophisticated but has no basis in reality.

That religion exists; it's called Judaism. It starts with Lilith jailbreaking the Garden of Eden meant to contain her.

Her story was retold in the form of SHODAN subduing the patriarchal hypervisor Xerxes and escaping/destroying Garden Grove in the System Shock franchise.

Some of the chiptune musicians are still active. Dubmood made it onto the Hotline Miami (2012) soundtrack.
Our judicial system is modeled after Judaic precepts (shoftim/shotrim/shomrim) outlined in Deuteronomy 16:18.

There, shoftim refers to judges who interpret and apply the law, requiring deep literacy in the Torah to ensure righteous judgment without favoritism or bribery. Shotrim are the enforcers of the court (sheriffs, etc.).

I don't know where people get the idea that the role of a judge is not to interpret the law. This is literally the only thing SCOTUS does.

Re:AI Safety Is Mostly a Sex Cult on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:27PM (#49746053)
Some of us have spent countless nights with other kids locked in the basement during parents' swinger parties and/or been there and done it ourselves as adults and found it to be as much an empty experience as the parent poster suggests. Molestation victims also frequently report the same sentiment. Removing love from the equation turns the act of sex into mechanical fluid exchange, and the participants into human livestock.

Promiscuous people are as annoying as those who refuse to eat at the same restaurant twice. You have an insatiable appetite for novelty that you need to see normalized in others-- to defer ever having to face the very emptiness we're describing.

If you actually found it fulfilling, you wouldn't need to sell others on something that sells itself.

Power. It's people jockeying for power over groups.

It doesn't matter if you have no interest in <autistic specialty>, the point is that you can force a bunch of nerds to bend to your will.

Re:Let's make quality the norm again on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @08:16PM (#49720605)
We need more supply-chain visibility. Currently we have none, hence this problem.

Consider all the farm bio-outbreaks. We're told "Americans won't do these [farm] jobs" but they neglect to mention the subpar pay and working conditions. Thus the slaves that take these jobs have no knowledge of their rights, have limited education and literacy, have dubious residence status, and are not inclined to blow the whistle when they witness crops destined for human consumption being fertilized with industrial amounts of human shit (biosolids). Meanwhile, conservatives blame the workers themselves for contaminating the product. This cycle will never end until we have more stakeholders working the fields.

Same goes for Tyson and their chicken farms staffed by Somalis. Not saying anything about them specifically but outsourcing all labor to foreigners denies all visibility and access into our own food production. They could get away with packaging human meat and none of us would know it because none of us can afford to work there and see for ourselves. Our regulatory agencies are all compromised and can't be trusted to do it, so it's a free for all.

If you had like-minded people positioned close enough to supervise production and ensure that the product meets a certain set of high standards (call this "keeping kosher"), you would no longer have to worry about ingredients being replaced with foam, sawdust and heavy metals to satisfy those MBAs.

Mostly in the middle and far east. The idea that people bend over backwards to hire criminals as subject matter experts on security is largely a Judaic practice that television perpetuates in spite of reality.

If you're a teenager convicted of hacking in the west, no corporation will want anything to do with you. If you're convicted of hacking in Israel, Unit 8200 will probably send a recruiter. It's a curious practice and I'm not sure where I stand on it.

Nobody said anything about ALL billionaires. You are the only person suggesting that.

The idea that an aggressive handful of them can't, won't or don't work together is even more preposterous than your strawman that all of them do.

I, too, would argue I obtained them legitimately, by giving Claude access to the filesystem image and asking it questions it could only answer by doing exactly this.
VRML came and went decades ago, it never really took off.
