I think there’s a version of the Malthusian trap that has explanatory merit - the idea that as population increased, you got diminishing returns from more people farming the same land. Population would therefore increase until famine, after which there would be good times until the cycle repeated. This cycle was broken by the industrial revolution.

Yeah, added :)
bin/rails generate migration CreateChats user:references
bin/rails generate migration CreateMessages chat:references role:integer content:string
Will need to add null: false and default: 0 on the enum manually if you so desire as Rails apparently doesn't support generating with those options.https://gist.github.com/alexrudall/cb5ee1e109353ef358adb4e66...

Show HN: Peaceterms – Chat to people you disagree with
Hi all, I'd like to get some feedback on my side project - https://www.peaceterms.comIt's a way to chat with people you disagree with in order to (hopefully) learn to understand them better. It's based on the idea of the talking stick - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talking_stick. You can add any opinion you like, and take it in turns to express your point of view.If it works/gets any traction,...

The chicken assumes that the human will always care for it. Nature has not equipped it to deal with an intelligent predator.

There's a great book called 'Planet Narnia' (by Michael Ward, "the foremost living Lewis scholar") that argues (to me, very convincingly) that Lewis wrote the Narniad based around Medieval cosmology. Not the easiest read but, in my view, very rewarding and really provides insight into some beloved stories and how they relate to Lewis' religion.

Oh really, might read that. I read Black Man and enjoyed it. (possibly called something else if you're in the US, by the same author as Altered Carbon)

"Learning to be me" by Greg Egan is a short story that covers this very ground, it's good.
