I deleted my linkedin a few years back when they had some bug where I would randomly get page views as some other person, with all their connections and account details and whatnot. It would only last a few minutes then switch me back to my account, but they aggressively ignored my attempts to reach out to them about this bug so I just gave up.
Why wouldn't you assume bad faith? In every interaction I've had with the healthcare system nobody has seemed to have good outcomes as the goal. It's never even discussed as a possible goal, much less implemented as a priority.

The doctors I know claim that they are good people and will treat anyone regardless of means, but they have also sent many patients into bankruptcy and suicide with five, six figure debts for minor procedures. That's not ethical. That is doing harm. It's either bad faith or sociopathy to ignore the fact that our life expectancy is going down every year, I'm not sure which.

The healthcare system seems to be optimized towards extracting as much money from older people as possible. I just hope we can move the ball forward and try to make it good at healthcare instead by the time I get old.

Why does it matter? The API is as dead as the telegraph, everyone is just building garden walls higher instead.

I worked on and with lots of APIs back in the day. They are all gone. All of them. Eliminated for business reasons. The internet has become a tool for carving out fiefdoms of engagement to be monetized, it's not about connecting people or systems anymore.

Every time I try to buy some device that is LAN only and doesn't talk to the net, ever, I usually find zero options or few crappy, expensive choices. Why anyone would install a camera that then talks to some corporation's cloud is beyond me, I have zero interest in that.

The web is getting so terrible I have started blocking all cookies and javascript by default, as well as running all the usual extensions.

More and more of the web seems to get closed off to me every day with posture, but honestly I'd rather just stop using computers entirely than have everything I do be coopted by surveillance capitalism. I never agreed to any of this crap.
