I used an iPhone 4s from 2011 until end of 2018. Probably most remarkably, I never put a case or any kind of screen protector on it. The thing was still practically scratch free when I stopped using it. It’s still sitting in a drawer next to me.

> the article doesn't state Heroku by name
Heroku is mentioned in the first sentence.

> Whatsapp is the de-facto communication tool in India and LatAm from experience
And much of Europe.
As do many other countries. You really cannot live without it in much of the world.
Rich Hickey talks about this, calling it "hammock-driven development."

Aaron Sorkin has also touched on this:
> Most of the time, me writing looks—to the untrained eye—like someone watching ESPN. The truth is if you did a pie chart of the writing process, most of the time is spent thinking. When you’re loaded up and ready to go—when you’ve got that intention and obstacle for the first scene that’s all you need. For me at least, getting started is 90% of the battle. The difference between page zero and page two is all the difference in the world.
I don't know the history, but there is supposedly a fixed set of Porter Duff blend modes, specific algorithms. For example, this C++ library:
> Blend2D supports all Porter & Duff compositing operators

Also, the link shared by one of the sibling comments can be searched for "Porter" to see how they are referenced:

They are typically referred to as Porter Duff blend modes, so I assume that these algorithms were invented mainly by those guys. (by Thomas Porter and Tom Duff)

Same. I've written probably more C++ than any other language, and I have a lot of respect for the language overall, but I recently had to use only C for something, and I found it rather refreshing. My use case didn't hit a lot of the pain points of C, but it did feel refreshing as there are fewer ways of doing things, fewer options, compared to C++, and my code ended up feeling more straightforward and readable as a result.

And here I thought you were looking for help understanding how normal vectors work to define the reflectiveness of a 3D surface, and I thought, that’s a rather specific item for guidance!
I had to pull out the big guns, shift + escape.
It will clear your anxiety, or at least help a little!
>Sweden seems to be a country with significant social pressure
I'm curious what you mean by this?
Helix is a simple install, easy to give it a try and see what you think. For most people, there’s no configuration necessary to get started. I jumped through the hoops to get C++ tools in a variety of editors, and nothing was as simple as Helix for me.
Helix is great! The out-of-the-box LSP for C++ is a major strength, no config needed for me compared to 100% of all other editors I've used. The context-aware popups are nice too, and the overall UI is snappy and fresh. Highly recommend if you are a fan of modal editing and willing to try something new.

An English link to the same topic on the same site:
https://www.president.gov.ua/en/news/treba-zvilnyati-vid-ros...
It starts:
Dear Ukrainians!
An important decision was made today. It's fair. Legally perfect. Historical.
Ukraine confirmed its respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Japan, including its Northern territories, which are still under Russian occupation.
Today, I signed the relevant decree. There is a corresponding statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. And we call on everyone in the world to make similar decisions.
Russia has no right to these territories. Everyone in the world knows this well. And we must finally act.
We must de-occupy all the lands that the Russian occupiers are trying to keep for themselves.
The drawings are amazing, but the reason he is so well-known is his process, which you can only see in the videos.
He was certainly very busy, always traveling. This happened (from what I read) as he was leaving a show in Paris for a flight to New York.
He is all over YouTube and did exhibitions around the world -- I'd check out his drawing show videos.

There are articles about this in various places (I saw it on the front page of cnn, highlighting just how influential he was), and it does feel a bit like the world has lost a Mozart or a Rembrandt. I'm not sure there has ever been anyone like him, or will be again.Sad day -- only 47 years old, he had so much that everyone thought was still ahead of him.

for me, main thing is turning on the (now native) vim emulation which is decent though missing some things (dot operator please!), and learning the keyboard shortcuts for the various UI panes
for "prettier" all I've ever needed is just auto indentation of a block, which works fine
other than that, I just submit to what Xcode is and live with it
That is truly one of the coolest things I've seen in a while.
