Senior Full-Stack Product Engineer | 15+ Years Experience | Contract / Freelance
US citizen based in London with 15+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer and technical lead. I've built production SaaS platforms, APIs, internal tools, and consumer applications, working across the entire stack.
Recently, I completed a challenge to launch 25 projects in 25 weeks. One of those projects, Channel Surfer, reached the front page of HN, attracted tens of thousands of visitors, and received coverage in TechCrunch, Engadget, Gizmodo, and CNET. I've also built All The Damn Tools, Just Schedule Me, and numerous other products.
What I can help with: MVPs, SaaS development, improving existing applications, AI/LLM integrations, APIs, automation, and full-stack engineering.
I'm particularly interested in working with founders and small teams that need an experienced, product-minded engineer who can take ownership, make technical decisions, and ship.
Availability: Remote contract or freelance work, part-time or full-time. Comfortable with UK, European, and US Eastern Time overlap.

I took a break from freelancing for a while to run a crazy experiment. 25 projects in 25 weeks. A lot of it was experimental: https://stevenirby.me
It was a lot of fun. I was featured in TechCrunch, Engadget, and many more. I was on the front page of HN 4 times.
So now I'm looking for a freelance position where I can help a team with product development or AI stuff.
Hope it made someone laugh a bit. :-)

About me:
I'm Steven and I've been in the tech industry since 2007. I've been a software engineer since 2010. For the last 6 years, I did the whole digital nomad thing and worked remotely for most of that time. It's been one hell of a ride.
I'm ready for the next chapter of my life. I want to head back to California (where I'm originally from) to start a very ambitious aerospace hardware startup. Yes, no software for me ideally.

I've been on a ~2 year sabbatical where I finished an around the world trip of visiting all seven continents of the world. I'm not entirely up to speed yet.
Lately, I've been working on a side project for fun – https://randomdailyart.com/. I am doing a lot of work with Go Hugo. Also, a ton of cool automation stuff with Huginn, n8n, etc. I'm starting a video course on automation stuff.
I think it's better to start with the fun stuff I enjoy. Slowly, I'm getting back into the heavy TypeScript react work from before my sabbatical.
