Re:We all took the DVD boom era for granted on Wednesday December 11, 2024 @11:05AM (#42389159)
FWIW my uncle still runs cinemaparadiso.co.uk - the last DVD rental service in the UK and possibly wider afield, in case anyone would like to explore the catalog.
Does anyone know if distilling water would remove these plastic particles, or if they’re small enough to to travel up with water vapour?
Looks like it was up for 2 years with that old link[1]. Fixed two months ago.

FYI they're now available for everyone. Just need to enable them in ChatGPT settings.
Re:I ported the Firefox Archive.today extension to Safari on Tuesday April 11, 2023 @09:19AM (#35524724)
Congrats man, this should be useful!
Self aggrandisement for sure - but then again it’s probably better than a possible alternative of Promptgrammer (prompt + programmer)

Direct competitors would be the likes of Azimo and WorldRemit.

For larger transfers (ie above £5k/$6k) you have a slew of them; Global Reach Partners, Moneycorp, World First, and Rational FX to name a few.

Disclaimer: I am a co-founder of CurrencyTransfer.com, an aggregator of some of the above larger transfer companies.

Re:Long-term stress erodes memory on Monday January 02, 2017 @10:34AM (#13301656)
Would you mind elaborating a bit on the "took every advantage I could to compensate for the damage caused by stress."

In a similar position and would be good to learn what worked for you.

Re:Show HN: Easiest UTM Tags Builder on Saturday May 07, 2016 @05:13AM (#11648917)
Would be nice to allow going back a step / modifying previously entered fields. Also keyboard navigation to progress is funky (entering a url, pressing tab and then space, closes the first tab in my Chrome browser).
Re:Ask HN: Open Source CRM Solutions? on Saturday March 14, 2015 @06:35AM (#9202141)
While not open source, and slightly outside of your budget ($12/user), Pipedrive isn't too bad, and we use it at currencytransfer.com.
Re:Show HN: Expedia for Business Money Transfers on Sunday February 15, 2015 @06:44AM (#9052390)
I'll look into this, thanks for the heads up!
Re:Show HN: Expedia for Business Money Transfers on Sunday February 15, 2015 @06:40AM (#9052384)
Co-founder here. Good catch, will update! :)

The details are required for compliance (Anti Money Laundering, etc) purposes. We're looking at asking for a lot of this data later on in the process and not front load it so much. For example have a demo env and when ready, complete form and book for real.

Great suggestion on the rate visibility pre-sign up. It's something a few people have mentioned, we'll be working on that this week.

Undo command, for those wondering:

sudo /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --clear-catalog

* Senior Ruby on Rails Developers - we are working with an outsourced developer team at the moment, and would like to bring this in house.

* Front-end/UI dev (HAML, SASS, JS, Angular.js, etc.)

We're looking for smart people to help build out and grow our back-end and integrations with partners. We're a team of 7 currently, though growing quickly in the next couple of weeks, so looking for the right people to help set the right DNA in the company.

Feel free to give me a call any time to discuss on 07711880001, or email at [email protected].

Re:We're Shutting Down and I'm Scared on Tuesday January 28, 2014 @07:06PM (#7140780)
Same goes if you're based in London. My email is [email protected]. This too shall pass.
Re:So you think you can tell Arial from Helvetica? on Sunday January 20, 2013 @09:38AM (#5087021)
1) Completely round O = Helvetica 2) The C's. Helvetica = flat endings not slanted 3) Like a perfectly round O, the M's have more of a squarish spacing
Re:How to Get Startup Ideas on Tuesday November 20, 2012 @12:03PM (#4809919)
One minor point I'd raise with the .co is a while ago I read (on HN I think) that one a particular startup had a lot of feedback from users saying "you're missing an 'm' in your logo/url". It might confuse some people that aren't familiar with how ccTLD/gTLD's work.

If you've come across this before, forgive the pestering, I just thought it was fair to point out before you've launched.

Re:Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (May 2012) on Tuesday May 01, 2012 @02:00PM (#3915610)
SEEKING FREELANCER (London, UK. - Remote or In-house):

We are currencytransfer.com, and we're all about saving people money when sending it overseas. Banks are our enemy, and we want to make the market more transparent, which while difficult is proving fruitful.

We're a tiny team at the moment, based in TechHub at the Google Campus building. We're seeking a Ruby on Rails developer with good and preferably demonstrable experience. Good, clean HAML/SASS (html/css is fine too) design is a big plus. We love new things, so we're happy to let you play with new toys to get the job done.

If you're interested please get in touch at [email protected]

Re:Bootstrap 2.0, From Twitter on Wednesday February 01, 2012 @03:48AM (#3537243)
On the topic of the responsive design module - when I view my project on an iPhone/iPad it shows the full screen version of the site, rather than the mobile version. However, it shows the mobile version on a samsung phone.

Is there a reason for this?

Re:Merchant Says Amazon Sabotaged Its Business on Wednesday December 28, 2011 @10:07AM (#3399923)
Certainly seems that the only people that get treated well by Amazon are its customers. Employees seem to be treated fairly badly and partners apparently too.

This could be an interesting PR tactic too, as it must make it tough to convince happy Amazon customers to join in any sort of movement against Amazon, because they don't feel the same way as the employees/partners.

Re:Ask HN: Best book you read in 2011 on Tuesday December 27, 2011 @11:27AM (#3396234)
I've been trying to get a hold of this book for a while in the UK, but it seems very tough to get a copy of without paying through the teeth for international shipping. Anyone have any tips?
Re:Temporary solution to Google Verbatim search on Thursday December 01, 2011 @10:11AM (#3299969)
Update: I just removed the old entry and added a new one.
Re:Temporary solution to Google Verbatim search on Thursday December 01, 2011 @10:07AM (#3299950)
Anyone know how to do this in Chrome? The field to alter the search parameters is disabled
I hope they find a way around having to ask the user what to do during a version conflict.
