"Tech companies are starting to treat AI tokens (the main way to measure usage) as a fourth component of employee compensation"

Why? My tokens are spent on improving or shipping features for the company. This is not comp. It should be added as a component of expenses, like a laptop, office, chair, etc.

Have you demo'd one? I use mine a few hours a day...great for pairing with a macbook and working from and awesome for movies too. Bit too expensive though

I have plenty of vibecoded projects. I didn't know it was that easy.

Dear: startups and FAANG: please send offers.

Not sure I'm gonna make it past paragraph one tbh.

Re:Sonic Pi v5 Released on Monday August 10, 2026 @01:01PM (#49246504)
This looks like a lot of fun. I wish they'd name it better though, the name makes me think it's a raspberry pi related thing. or a piece of hardware.

Super cool!

I'm an AI-assisted coder myself...but one thing I can't stand is the way Claude writes. It's so frustrating and cringe. Tells from the README:

emdash, byte-exact, "The full engineering log", piggybacks, "none of this is possible without it", etc

A remedy I've found for this is in my Claude.md to tell it: write like a mix of simple english wikipedia, mr. rogers and ernest hemingway.

> As I’ve mentioned before, we now live in a world where creative people have to prove they created the thing they created.

Do you? Just stop caring. I don't think it makes sense to keep asserting that you're an AI vegan in order to please randos. You'll always get hate creating/building anything online. The people that enjoy your work won't care if it's AI or not or they'll believe you.

Really curious exactly how you learn things like chess with flash cards. French makes sense as I would guess you just have a word or phrase in both languages.

What do you do for topics like chess?

Ha! Got a good laugh.

Two suggestions:

- Let me enter the time with my keyboard - Make your input numpad match a PC keyboard's numpad, not a phone's

Re:I let a bunch of strangers control my receipt printer on Saturday February 21, 2026 @12:06PM (#47102561)
A week ago I got a receipt printer on eBay to play around with.

I launched Claude code and had it connect and print something, cool! Then I decided to hook it up to the internet so anyone could send me a message. Someone asked for a camera pointed at it, so I did. Of course that was a bad idea… So I hooked up Claude and made it reject naughty content.

It’s been a week and I’ve added tons of features: a mod panel to play with the queue settings, turn the cutter on and off, ban people, etc.

We even have my laptop playing AI voice reactions to the content that gets printed. The livestream has been going for like 4 days straight now. I added some basic monitoring, develop features that the audience wants, refill the roll.

I’ve made a tiny tiny amount of money from this. Yes I feel bad about “wasting paper” but also it gives people joy.

I’ve lost control of my life, I’ve become printer man.

I want this for Gitlab so badly
It was meant to be a direct copy of Drudge and they have a garbage mobile interface haha.

Maybe I will consider optimizing though!

That's good input actually. I should have added details on my usage of Claude Code.
try setting set -g mouse on in your tmux config. With this I'm able to scroll up by using two fingers in termius.

Thx, Wifi! Was down for a bit yesterday but back up. No downtime due to volume of traffic

What? The how-to is the concerning part and not the code?
Re:Show HN: Vibe Coding a static site on a $25 Walmart Phone on Saturday January 03, 2026 @09:18PM (#46484137)
The only downtime has been due to phantom process killer (I think) still killing Andronix. I can't figure out why. Traffic was "only" 522 uniques today, easyyy for such a small site behind Nginx

Re:Show HN: Vibe Coding a static site on a $25 Walmart Phone on Saturday January 03, 2026 @06:01PM (#46482634)
Yep, I have worked in IT professionally for many years.

I also didn't copy and paste, Claude ran the commands for me, so it was even easier than that.

You are making a lot of assumptions.
